The Ultimate Centerpiece

Ice sculptures, wine decanters and even table jewels are nothing compared to the table centerpiece unearthed at Autoblog. The display features a bright green Lamborghini Gallardo balanced atop four teacups in front of the William Ashley store in Toronto to promote a contest for a set of fine China -- the very same China supporting the 3,153-lb. vehicle. We're still wondering why they aren't including the car in the contest, since performance vehicles generally have very little to do with tableware, even though we wouldn't object if given the chance to have such a centerpiece at our own table.
Click past the jump for a closer look at the teacups holding up the car.

Going Bananas, I gathered that was some sign of strength being shown however what does anyone need with a tea cup capable of holing up like 780+ pounds? All my tea cups are rated for like 8 oz. It is kind of dumb, they did a good job of making aluminum tea cups or some David Coperfield stuff to hold up the car. I just don't get modern art..

i thought you were supposed to be able light through the side of the cup for it to be considered fine china. i think that having 4 tea cups holding up
1 1/2+ is awsome, but i dont think that it is fine china.

"what does anyone need with a tea cup capable of holing up like 780+ pounds?"
I don't know, why don't you ask the people selling the teacups?
"It is kind of dumb, they did a good job of making aluminum tea cups or some David Coperfield stuff to hold up the car."
I don't know what those teacups are made of, but ceramics can be quite strong.
" I just don't get modern art.."
who said anything about this being modern art? The little description says it was to promote a contest for a set of fine China "

Regarding post #19...thank you Alquin for typing what you did. Tom's comment (post #6) was absolutely ridiculous. Hey Tom, at least he/she can
speak more than one language, which is more impressive than just knowing how to speak english only.

The Gallardo is an awesome looking car, but that color is butt ugly. The Jag XK is a beautiful car too, and also the Ferrari that was in Miami Vice (the movie not the show, the one in the show was a kit). GO SEAHAWKS

Bull in a china shop...outstanding marketing. But like #18 said, few actually "get it." I say Kudos to the advertising agent on this one.
Oh, and like others, I too am very interested in solving the "riddle" of the slamming of the baby. WTF?
