The Business Bib
Do you telecommute to work on a regular basis? For many who work from home on a regular basis, the dress code is relaxed, to say the least. Some work in jeans and a T-shirt, while others stick with pjs and slippers for the majority of their working hours. But with a rise in video conferencing, stay at home workers find that they have to meet real office dress codes even in their home office. Enter the Business Bib. It enables wearers to look like they're properly attired in a full suit from the chest up, so you can fool you boss and co-workers via webcam and avoid getting dressed for a bit longer in the mornings. It may look strange when viewed as a whole, but a glance at the gallery proves that they do look very convincing. The materials are of high quality and, perhaps best of all, you'll never have to worry about coordinating colors. Prices range from $135 to $150, and the personality descriptions with each bib are worth a read, even if you plan to stick with real suits.

Ugh. This has to be the worst idea I've ever seen...Sort of reminds me of a man-dickie.
Jeremy Sep 17th 2006 10:25PM
This is somewhat of an asinine design. 99% of people talk with their hands and consequently the farce would be revealed as soon as those on the other end see that the wearer's "suit" has no sleeves.
Marc Talunt Sep 18th 2006 12:36AM
I agree with Jeremy, i know i raise my hands that you will see the short sleeves, it will be better just putting on a shirt and jacket with underwear on my legs

Man, what a strange idea!. Nothing bad in buing yourself something that looks fine, feels fine and can be weared fine! And wearing it. Why buy such a fool-out?
Alix Sep 18th 2006 3:59PM
Could this be a hoax? Those images smack of Photoshop....
Ruffage Sep 18th 2006 11:57PM
Ahahahahahaha!
This reminds me of a commercial when a guy was video-conferencing with his superiors, then stood up to get some files on his desk, which then revealed that the lower half of his body was in red polka-dotted boxers. :D

I agree with Alix, this looks very much like a bit of photoshop fun. Maybe a viral campaign going on here?
KnightlyJay Sep 20th 2006 6:32AM
I would definitely say it has been photoshopped. There is no hint of a hem in the garment and it is a p.i.t.a. to make lapels hang like that without continuing them.

I do agree it is a stupid idea, but it is not a hoax. They are advertised in the NY Times!

I have seen television reporters, especially in resort towns dressed in running shorts and sneakers, wearing a coat and tie for the camera only to remove them when the broadcast was done...it's been done for years and people aren't even aware
Brian Sep 20th 2006 9:23AM
So then... I have to shower / shave / comb my hair (not doing any of these is real obvious to any "viewer"), I suppose the dickie thing has to be ironed to some degree? Oh, then spend $140 on the dickie... make certain I never raise my hands above table level...
All this to avoid actually dressing? Seems like a whole lot of work (and cost) to avoid something that originally would have been less work and no additional cost.
A humorous article, but a product that will go nowhere.

Talk about dumb ideas! If you are going to spend $135 - $150 on a "business bib" you might as well get a half decent jacket, shirt and tie!
Hans Von Stein Sep 20th 2006 10:27AM
What a retarded idea! LOL. The only fools that will buy this are
1. Nerds
2. Old men trying to be cool
3. Models who think this actually "style"
Sara Sep 20th 2006 10:50AM
I haven't had a laugh that good in several days.
That has got to be a photoshop gag.
Scott Sep 20th 2006 12:28PM
all i can say is the makers of this thing and more importantly anyone who spends THAT much money on these.... needs to PUT THE CRACKPIPE DOWN!!!
Jeanette Esposito Sep 20th 2006 2:32PM
SOOOOOOO - what about the WOMEN WHO WORK FROM HOME????? Where's our BIB? Actually - I think it is ridiculous for either Gender, but once again we were left out. 2006 and it's still a MAN'S WORLD!
