Who Steals a Wedding Gown?
Given the size and delicacy of most wedding gowns, even the high price tags aren't usually enough to make them targets for thieves. It seems like it would be hard to smuggle one out of the store. But if you just go for the gown closest to the door, you might get lucky. A rare designer gown was stolen from an Alderley Edge bridal shop in the U.K. when they left the door open on a warm day.
The cream-colored tulle gown was made by Italian design house Toi Creazioni and embellished with gold lace, roses and ribbons and flares into a fishtail skirt. It is valued at £2,665 (about $5,000), but because the dress is so distinctive -- only one other shop in the country stocks it - and so very few like it are sold, the shop hopes to recover it. The shop owner said "it seems a very peculiar way to start married life in a stolen dress."

I can't imagine anyone wanting that dress. Hedious and ridiculous is how I would describe it. I die laughing if I saw anyone walking down the Isle with that dress. Carmen Mianda crossed with Lucille Ball in an 1950's I love Lucy Episode if yo ask me.

That dress is a crime against nature. I'll bet the shop owners just want to "nab" the insurance money, since they couldn't sell it. I love it that "rare" and "distinctive" are now euphanisms for "UuglyAsHomemadeSin".

Ben~ I may be wrong but hummm unless you are a woman posing as a man truely what do you care? First of all the picture does the dress absolutely no justice~secondly it is only $5,000 and I was quite surprised by that due to the header on the article~ We are all quite glad that indeed you will not be wearing it~ that indeed would be highly insulting~

This gives "runaway bride" a whole new meaning...

I'd like to know when these bridal store owners are opening a fishing supplies store? I'll be by to visit that store on a warm day.

I agree with Sarah, I think it is an eye catching dress and I think it would look much more beautiful if seen in person. I also thought it would be more expensive $5,000.00 is not so much for a wedding dress.... It isn't a one of a kind, it sold off the rack.

$5,000 is a small price to pay for a designer wedding gown these days.
Marie Sep 13th 2006 7:36AM
I think the dress is magnificent! Most of the above comments all trashed the dress. Apparently, not many people have an eye for taste, style, and/or class.
A little piece of advice to some: In the future, you might want to check your spelling before putting up a post. The very first comment from Ben, yikes.....your spelling is horrific! Had a hard time deciphering some words. (Isle??? as in wedding "aisle") It starts with an "A", not an "I".

I clicked on this article to see the beautiful designer dress, a "must-have" that someone actually would steal. Wow...if I was a bride and my husband-to-be stole this dress for our wedding I'd seriously re-think taking vows with this twit. What an ugly dress!

Looks like something you could wear on Halloween!
moi Sep 13th 2006 7:43AM
i think the dress is georgeous... i'm guessing most of you guys are giving it a thumbs down because it doesn't come with massively puffed sleeves and huge bows on the back?
Deb Sep 13th 2006 7:46AM
Whew! I thought I was one of the only people who thought that dress was ugly! It may be a "one-of-a-kind (Thank heavens for that!!) but ugly is ugly no matter what the price tag!
Kat Sep 13th 2006 7:50AM
That dress is absolutely hideous. Just shows how superficial people are when it comes to "designer" names. I'm all for being different, but why it is that the most outlandish trends become "in"? Get a grip on reality.
Beth Sugarman Sep 13th 2006 7:56AM
Dear Thief:
Thank you for removing this dress from public display!
Elaine Cypher Sep 13th 2006 7:58AM
I think they would sell the dress & it will be "altered" to the specifications of the owner. No one knows if they are buying something hot.

That dress looks like it had a collision with a truck load of tar and chickens. they must have stolen that dress to save someone the misery of wearing it. But, if that is all it takes to design an expensive dress...I'd bet I could come up with several designs.
Pollee Sep 13th 2006 8:03AM
It's not about the dress. It's the "thrill in the steal". Look for it on Ebay in a couple of days. There's a chance the owner may still recover it.

The article states that "so very few like it are sold" ROTFLAO....I wonder why? HELLO, I guess they dont know.
