It really is a dog's life in Miami. It's a city where people
love their dogs so much that there is a 24-hour luxury department store for dogs only.
The Dog Bar stocks just about everything you could want to get for a pet, from pet foods and chew toys to luxury pet beds and the latest in fashionable collars. Don't be surprised if you end up spotting a celebrity or two with their pets if you're in the store, but the focus is on the pets and the helpful staff will make sure that they are well taken care of while there and stylishly outfitted by the time they leave.

Pretty neat stores. I've never been inside, but they have a HUGE store in Lincoln Road and a pretty good sized one on Miracle Mile.

I live in South Florida and my 2 4-legged son's love going to the Dog Bar, the staff is friendly and knowledgable about the products they sell. My boy's feel like kings when they are there. ( I once spotted very famous (has a book about itself) 4-legged child their, the mother is an author and singer.)

I think this is kind of silly. Who needs a dog collar at 2am.? Pets are wonderful to have, but let's draw the limit somwhere. There are starving and homeless children and seniors on our very own streets. Let's rethink our priorities, ok?

Sounds like a petsmart or petco to me. Just trying to upscale it with a different name and mentioning stars in there with their dogs.

This store isn't even in the same category as PetSmart or Petco! Unlike the junk food that you buy in Petco or PetSmart, The DogBar sells some of the best dog food brands. You don't necessarily have to buy it from them. There are plenty of places to purchase the best dog food. I wish people would learn about dog food before purchasing in the supermarket or pet chain stores!

When kids are homeless and hungry and New Orleans is still a nightmare for thousands of people....why would we even give a thought to having a pet department store???? Where are our values? We will spend big bucks on our pets to dress them like people (we love them but they AREN'T people) and eat gourmet food instead of using that money to do good in our country....pathetic
Robert Sep 11th 2006 4:39PM
Hey #6, People will always be hungry and homeless. People spoiling their pets will also never change, did you ever think that people who treat their pets well also support the country and the downtrodden? Also, it may be all some people have is to spoil their pet.

I HAVE FOUR 4 LEGGED CHILDREN, I WISH THERE WAS A STORE LIKE THAT HERE. I DON'T GIVE MY CHILDREN GROCERY STORE DOG FOOD. I ORDER MINE ONLINE. OTHER PEOPLE NEED TO LIGHTEN UP. LIVE LAUGH AND LOVE

To Elizabeth and pathetic.. I would be willing to bet that I probably am older than both of you combined, therefore I believe that I'm in a position to make this observation. I've worked around business people for some 55 years and raised three children. I have found my pets to be more loving, more loyal, and more dependable than 99% of the people I've known, and they have never asked for anything in return. People who don't like amimals are people you need to keep an eye on. Both of you need to take a long hard look at yourself.

Petco and Petsmart actually carry some of the very best, nutritionally balanced dog foods out there. I have no doubt that blaces like this "DogBar" have all sorts of fancy, organic dog foods full of vegetables and herbs and without preservatives, but please don't let the fancy words trick you into thinking that those foods are better. Maybe there is some truth in the idea that inorganic additives and preservatives are bad for your dog, but poor nutrition is way worse! Don't knock the science :)

I think it's a cute idea, I mean why not? I personally wouldn't spend tons of money on a dog, but for most people their animals are their family and I no I like taking my son(he's human-2 legs)to nice department stores,so why not do it for your 4-legged children. And I'd also like to add that just because people spend money on their animals doesn't mean they don't support charitable causes, just look at Oprah!
CHristine Sep 11th 2006 4:54PM
Listen, dogs are better than most people and deserve to be loved! They are loyal, respectful and will love you know matter what! My dogs are better behaved than most people I know. Hey, why dont you talk to all of those parents that are spending thousands on junk food and video games for their kids to sit and rot....maybe they could save a few homeless people! Animals are not vindictive or mean-spirited and wont screw you over for money! They are innocent and loving (unless some ruthless slob of a hunman TRAINS them or tortures them to be mean!)

The DOG BAR is a great place for your dog. They have the best of everything there. A very healthy place for the animals. Some of the coolest nic nacs for your dog. Collars bowls leashes. you name it they have it. the staff is the best....... I wish they would open one in Ft Lauderdale

I have found people who treat their animals good are also good to strangers, family, and friends. I bet the above negative comments are from people who don't care about giving to strangers, family or friends. It makes me sad to think of how they treat their children!!
Thank you and bless you all who care for you furry friends!!

What does a pet store have to do with starving children? come on... I think an upscale pet store is a great idea, but 24 hours, that is kind of rediculous...
A.J. Sep 11th 2006 5:40PM
CB,
If you think that PetSmart and Petco carries some of the best dog food, you know absolutely nothing about dog food! Go to this site http://www.mordanna.com/dogfood/
Maybe you'll learn something!
CC Sep 11th 2006 5:48PM
Let's look at it this way people. We are humans who love our pets. If we wanna spoil 'em then just let us. But go somewhere cheaper people, lets not put our pets before us (even though we do it.......a lot). Buy the knockoffs, not the real thing most of the time, real thing when you can. This is America, the land of the FREE and FREE to spoil our pets if we want to!!!
Don't you agree?
Diana Sep 11th 2006 5:49PM
It's just a fun thing. I agree with everybody here who thinks that the same people who help animals will reach out to people who are really in need. Larry is right when he writes that animals are usually more grateful than humans. I'm NOT an old maid, and yes, I have raised two legged children Unfortunately, I've found that people who don't like animals are not even nice to people. If anybody doesn't like this store, they don't have to go there! Maybe all of the "humanitarians" should go out and do something for the people that they like to remind us about, instead of telling people who like animals that they're selling humans short.

Ah, only in America or maybe some places in Europe.
People have a right to spend their money anyway they want to, although spending a whole lot of money on pets is personally a bit silly to me, even if I do love my doggies. In some places the keeping of pets is forbidden - like in Beijing where they would sooner eat them as gourmet food for the newly rich Chinese.
