The extra weight would bring the mileage down to about 5 mpg instead of 7. Any one who tells you different is not truthful or they do not own an RV. First of all, RV's themselves are the biggest gas guzzlers of all time, so the tree huggers can get on THEIR case and stop ticking off the owners of gas conscious SUVs like my 27 mpg Toyota Highlander. This concept of a garage to store a small car is ludicrous. Why is it everyone always wants to take issue with things? No, it's not the first garage concept RV as stated, but it just might be over in Germany. Most of the US garage RV have a section carved out of the rear of the vehicle, totally different.

As to the gas milage, all comments are true, but here is the reality, those of you that have RV's haven't parked them have you? While overall sales of the industry have backed way off, how much of that is the cost of fuel v. the cost of living is a whole "other" subject.

My concern with a slide out garage may seem foolish, but what does it do to the center of gravity and ground clearance? I've seen more than one RV have a real problem due to a lack of ground clearance. Likewise, it might just be a huge help in terms of center of gravity and handling issues that RV's often have. Thoughts? Comments?

While we are on the subject of wonderful play toys that most can only dream about, check these two sites out:

(1) first why is it suggested that the cars to go under this RV are a Mercedes-Benz, BMW or a MiniCooper? The best conventional fun car to go under there if you call it conventional would be a Miata, if you want still more excitement, how about a Lotus Elise. Better yet, why settle for ground bound driving only? Check out this link: http://www.terrawind.com Heck, why settle for a motor home with a slide out garage, why not take your car, boat, and RV with you? This site tells you how.

(2)And if you really can't decide which of your toys you want to take, or don't want them blended all into one, then try this on for size: http://wwww.boaterhome.org

WARNING: THE Terrawind site is graphically intense, even with high speed it takes a bit to load, but it's worth the wait, and you will be there for a while....trust me.

Enjoy

Matt

Comments on Luxury RV Has Slideout Garage

I am guessing the people bad mouthing the idea cannot afford one of these or really has no idea what the concept of RV'ing is all about. Its a lifestyle not just something someone does. It is not about gas money or economy. For people who live this lifestyle its probably a great idea, not just for a car but for the storage. And I agree with the guy who said something about the weight and center of gravity. I would gladly have the car in there then tow it behind. So it would be nice to have comments from people who understand the reasoning behind the designs and purpose rather then just some morons who stumbled across it and have no idea what they are talking about.

Rick

Comments on Luxury RV Has Slideout Garage

It is cool one to have garage on RV. I wonder someone loves to travel and off-road. I have heard and check out new trailer that can carry pop-up camper and 2 ATVs. What have i search for the size and no such the offers in all sizes. So I will buy longest flatbed trailer and make my own design of RV and full-size off-road vehicle space. How about that ? I know many kind of recreational people like to do on vacation or weekenders..
Other hand u people saying about fuel, well there are improving in techinical with engines/transmissions to make better fuel mileage. And yes, with the weight loading can affect with fuel mileage but depend on where u going on trip like mountain driving. flatland driving..
Well, good luck to everyone who buy this new RV with garage and have a enjoyable time... thanks

Bobby

Comments on Luxury RV Has Slideout Garage

Love it or hate it, its a cool idea for the super rich. I wish I could afford it! At the campgrounds which I have gone to: VA, ME, PA ,NY ,there never is enought slide clearance at the site for my slideouts let alone to get a car out from the side. I like the idea but have some concerns on how practical it might be in general.
As far as the gas mileage is concerned, that car will add significant weight and with the gas prices these days, it would put it out of real reach for a lot of people, except for the very well off.

Arthur
