Le Jardin, Estate of the Day

The latest auction from JP King will feature Le Jardin, a lakefront home in Greenwood, South Carolina. The home is yet another in the faux-European category. The home is accented with imported hardwoods, marble and copper gutters and has a very formal style. Rooms include a billiard room, private office, craft room, exercise room and library. There is a master suite and four other bedrooms plus and additional upstairs rec area (perfect for kids who need their own space). Outside, the home has waterfalls, gardens, a loggia and complete outdoor kitchen. The auction takes place on September 19. After the jump, a few murals don't a Renaissance make.

All of that formality and your basic, run of the mill appliances in the kitchen? Not even a six burner stove top or double ovens? Unless, of course, that is the maid's kitchen.

One word....tacky!

The place, IMO, has various architectural and design flaws, bordering on the garish. The basement/first floor stairwell that cuts into what I presume is the foyer is only one example.
Plus, too, and also, I agree w/ Jean.

Boy, Jean is right! Beautiful house (if you like that style) with a $350K home kitchen. Not even a Sub Zero? They must not cook!!!!

haha rich,
at first, i thought you didn't like the double staircases, which i thought could be considered garish, but not really a flaw.
then, on closer inspection, i saw the safety rails of the stairs in the middle ground, and yeah. wow.
nice job of ruining the view through the house guys.

This is a wonderful example of a 21st century, White Trash villa...you can't blame them for the mural window inlays, it beats looking at the cow pasture.

I'd really like to see where you people live. The kitchen you continue to bash is one of three, and the smallest. I'm not sure why those are the only pictures on this site. My family is not white trash. The view includes waterfalls, a garden and a lake - not cow pastures. I agree some of the design is too much. We plan to redecorate. Send me some pictures of your home and we'll talk.
