Goldenbleu Sophie, Handbag of the Day
The Sophie Bag by Goldenbleu is a large, versatile hobo-style bag that is sleek enough to make an appearance at dressier events and expands easily to hold all your finds after a long day of shopping. It is well made, with detailed stitching and elaborate smocking on the sides. The shoulder strap is adjustable, with a drop that ranges from 11"-13" but still fits neatly under an arm. The soft leather comes in several colors, including cream, black and chocolate, and the bag is lined in suede with accenting gold hardware. Price: $734.

This is much, much too bulky. A day at a sporting event where Mom can stash water bottles, sunscreen, wallets, cameras, hats, or any other junk the kids want her to hold for them- yes, this is conceivable.
But a dressy event? Out of the question. The bag would completely dominate whatever I was wearing. Evening bags should be small and sleek. All a girl needs on a night out is a purse big enough to carry ID, a credit card, lipstick, face powder, a spare tampon, and cab fare in case of emergency. That's it. Not this big, floppy thing.
