The Tire Ring
If your male partner grouses about wearing jewelry because it's "too girly," we've got the answer. Tire Rings are heavy rings in silver, gold or platinum with the look of car, truck, mountain bike or motorcycle tire treads. Suitable also for female gearheads and cyclists. Prices range from under $100 to over $5,000 depending on size and metal. [via Into Gear]

Perhaps the "men" who want to wear this should just walk around with their penis hanging out.....least we forget how manley they really are.

I don't think that this will suddenly make guys want o wear a wedding ring. I don't think that the fact that rings are "too girly" is the reason they aren't wearing them . . . . ill let you figure it out . .

i think they are cool rings, not because they look like tires, but just because i like silver rings with awkward designs. i AM going to have to agree with mostly everyones opinions here that these rings for a wedding band are totally gay and on top of it, any cheesedick who would wear these rings instead of the traditional wedding band because they are too girly is a total cocky machismo in the closet fruitcake..everybody has their own reasoning for not liking something, even the traditional wedding band but saying its too girly!!!! come on, lighten up francis!!

My ex-husband never wore his wedding ring after our first year of marriage, using the reasoning that because he was a firefighter, he couldn't wear one to fight a fire. I was young and naive enough to actually believe what he said about not wearing it for his own safety. I found out that after nine years of marriage and two kids he had been cheating the whole time we were married. Not wearing a wedding ring "for his safety" was only an easy excuse for him to cheat. S.O.B.

uhmmm... maybe it's me, but why are so many getting so worked up over this? I think it's an interesting ring. I don't think it has any negative tones to it. Not everyone likes traditional. A lot of people perfer unique, and if this suits their personality then go for it. A lot of couples opt for rings that don't match these days. Who says the bride has to have a matching tire tread ring? I may order one in silver as a right hand ring for my husband becuase he works in the auto industry and I think it's a fun idea. If you're getting this worked up over a ring, maybe you need to refocus on other things in your life that need your scathing and judgemental replies. Sheesh - it's just a ring with a short story about it.

Nice rings....for a novelty item. Any man who is inhibited about a wedding ring; with emphasis on ANY MAN, shouldn't be thinking of marriage in the first place. I've had hazardous jobs where I've removed my wedding band for safety reasons, but never have I found a need for a more "masculine" ring. I'd be interested in the rings solely as a novelty item, as it would look stylish while driving my Corvette. But not as a symbol of matrimony. I love my Corvette, but not enough to marry it.

these rings are great!!! think of it ladies, the ring can remind him of his favorite car or motorcycle that you take from him in the divorce!

If made larger, it would make an interesting cockring.

I'm married and wear my wedding ring all the time. I'm not into cars, and not overly crazy about jewelry, but I like the design of these rings. The fact that they're derived from car tires is beside the point. I just think they make nice looking rings. I’d wear one.

They would make interesting cockrings if made larger

They would make interesting penis rings if made larger.

Perhaps if they were used as jewelry for male genitalia they would sell more
Amy Aug 29th 2006 1:47PM
That is just disgusting!! Maybe they should make a ring for females in the shape of a vaccuum or something...a little too much of genderizing is not a good thing and is deragatory
Fred Aug 29th 2006 4:00PM
I think the rings are interesting and would consider one... but not for a wedding ring. A tire for a wedding ring just sends all sorts of bad messages across.

I don't see where that has to be a wedding ring, maybe just a novelty item. I've seen men wear non-wedding rings before...

Wedding Bands are different than this product. Generally, any man that will not wear a wedding band is not comfortable in his marriage. If they remove it for safety reasons, thats different; I seen a guy get a ring caught in safety wire when he fell...took off half his finger. BUT, the psychological constriction of the band that is what puts men off of wedding bands. The thought of marriage choking them causes fear and illicits a fight or flee response.
Needless to say, I was married once...never took of the ring until she said goodbye and closed the door behind her. Soon after all the plants died...
These rings however...small pieces of metal that fit your finger that look like tires. One saying says it all: "There's a sucker born every minute"

MY FUTURE HUSBAND AND I ARE AVID ATV RIDERS SO I THINK THESE ARE A GOOD FIND, AND I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN KNOWING WHERE TO FIND THE ATV TIRE PATTERN. ITS JUST THE THING TO KEEP US STANDING OUT IN THE CROWD.

I'm not understanding why a jewelry item is causing such a fuss. It's just another design...such as the Greek Key, Turkish knot, etc. The marketing remarks may be silly, but the rings aren't that bad looking! To each his own!
