Buy the SS Minnow
Love black-and-white TV? Have $99k sitting around? Feel like flying to British Columbia to buy Gilligan's boat? Me either, but hey, if you really wanted to, you could. The SS Minnow of Gilligan's Island fame is up for sale. The Minnow is a 1964 Wheeler Express Cruiser 37 with a 10' dinghy and a recently rebuilt motor that currently lives in British Columbia. It'll sleep five and has less than 200 hours on the new inboards.[Thanks, Scott!]

Why a rebuilt engine? The first one only had THREE HOURS on it.......
Bob Denver Aug 24th 2006 9:48AM
I cant believe Mr. Howell didn't scoop this up before it went to market!

What was a millionaire doing on this little thing carrying a ton of money, jewelry and clothes? Why was a movie star taking a tour wearing only a ball gown? Why did the professor bring a ton of books with him? Why can he make everything out of coconuts but not a radio transmitter and patch for the boat?
There are thousands of us who have been traumatized by these questions for the last 40 years.

Is there a warranty on the hull repairs? I remember seeing a
hole in the side of this boat.
Darkhawk Aug 30th 2006 8:06PM
Watching that show is a treasured childhood memory. Yes it may seem silly but if i were as rich as mr howell i would definetly snatch up that boat.
Tom Aug 30th 2006 8:11PM

RON SELLZ Aug 30th 2006 8:19PM
I WOULD GLADLY BE SHIPWRECKED WITH THIS LOVING GROUP OF PEOPLE. THEY HAD NO ASPIRATIONS TO TAKE OVER THE WORLD. ALL THEY REALLY WANTED TO DO WAS LIVE NICE NORMAL LIVES AND IF THEY COULDN'T GET BACK HOME THEN THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANTED. OH, IF LIFE WERE ONLY THAT SIMPLE. I'D BE HAPPY TO BE ONE OF THOSE CASTAWAYS.
Voodoo Aug 30th 2006 8:17PM
Ok, so i give - did something happen to the boat?
Skipper Aug 30th 2006 8:22PM
It's sincere.. BUT for another thousand.. can Bob Denver Have Smoke joint with me on the boat?
Dan Karbler Aug 30th 2006 8:22PM
Hmmm...no mention if the navigational aids have been updated, either.
Dan Aug 30th 2006 8:23PM
Ok..the ad says it sleeps 5...There were 7 on board when they washed up on the island. false advertising?

Minnow or not, it seems to me that ninety kay is a pretty good price for the boat. Someone's going to pick up a bargain.
JOKESTER Aug 30th 2006 8:31PM

IT WAS SITTING ON A BEACH FOR A LONG TIME ,,,, THINK MAYBE IT MIGHT HAVE A STINK TO IT?
Ron Evers Aug 31st 2006 1:16PM
SLEEPS FIVE? With 7 passengers it meant someone was bunking up two to a bed. The Howels, and Ginger and Maryann, right?
matt Aug 30th 2006 8:38PM
DJ remarked 'why a rebuilt engine? The first one only had three hours on it'
I just want to say that the tour was supposed to last three hours. After Gilligan and crew got lost, they were wandering around in stormy seas for probably longer than that before they found the island. I agree with your premise though.
Louis Tulini Aug 30th 2006 8:40PM
I'd rather wait for the PT 73 from McCales Navy.
Dave Aug 30th 2006 8:42PM
It would be difficult to smoke that joint with Bob Denver. He died a few months back.
The Professor Aug 30th 2006 8:49PM
Hey Matt, what DJ was really trying to with his "3 hour" comment was make the rest of us laugh. Thanks for explaining away his comedy...
