Neiman Marcus Top Ten Fall Trends
Neiman Marcus has identified what they feel are the top ten fall trends in women's fashion. They stuck with broad categories, rather than picking individual items, so it's easy to pick out items that will fit in with the trends and your personal tastes. Of course, a top ten list isn't going to cover every single fashionable item (they're missing bows and animal prints, for example), but it's a good place to start. The list includes:
- Black/Gold Handbags
- Red Accents
- Belts
- Tunics
- White Shirts
- Skinny Pants
- Gold Jewelry - and lots of it
- Black Leggings
- Booties and Boots
The only real question here is why they don't offer the same type of list to men, too.

I Love to follow the trends. I like to buy good staples like a good white blouse, great black leather belt, perfect black bag. These items last for years.

I have just the opposite problem of Carol and Brittney...I wear a 10.5 shoe, but narrow (2A). I can't shop just any where for shoes. And when I do find some, there usually isn't a big variety of styles. Plus they aren't inexpensive. I used to buy ones that were too wide but not anymore. It's just not worth it; they would end up on the closet floor and only worn once or twice...not comfortable at all.

I absolutely LOVE leggings, belts, red accents such as shoes and belts and big bold black and gold handbags. Just add them to any outfit for instant hottness!!! And its not just following the trends. These are staples to have in your closet all the time!

To the women with small feet-
At least you can wear a stylish shoe designed for children if you're desperate. I typically take a size twelve shoe, and I would actually like designers to start producing LARGER shoes for women.

check Zappos for shoes that people with small feet. They have a great selection and are wonderful to purchase from. Zappos.com is the actual site. I buy from them all of the time and I wear a size 5.

To all you petite footed women out there! Help is available! There is a reputable company in California which has a wide selection of shoes in very small sizes. Cinderella Shoes of Boston. Go to their website at http://www.cinderellaofboston.com/ to check out their shoes. When I have been there with my short statured daughter, I saw lots of tiny ladies shopping and buying tons of shoes. So, good luck! We have had great success there for prom shoes! Also, check out www.Nordstrom.com which carries some shoes in 4.

For the ladies looking for extended sizes in shoes, I wonder if you have tried shopping online? I've had great luck with Zappos.com. They show ladies shoes from size three through size 18. (I have no commercial relationship with them -- I just am a satisfied customer.)

I also wear narrow shoes 71/2 4-A. I get shoe catalogs
with some narrow sizes and they do have larger sizes.I
cannot go in a shoe dept and buy shoes to fit .I have to order all my shoes. Catalog names Auditions and Maryland Square. Good Luck

As a newly divorced woman of 43 I am excited to be back on the dating scene. These trends make me feel like I should drag out everything I've been hanging on to for sentimental reasons & I'll be right in style! PLEASE! New fashion trend? I was wearing this stuff back when I was dating the first time around 27 years ago!

Its all about what works for you. So you add a little trend in here and there if you like. But please, nothing big and overstated. Skinny jeans? Just as long as the jeans fit great, their in! As for fall fashion, individualism speaks more for itself than anything. I love to see what different people put together without going with set trends. Its exciting and encourages imagination. Happy Shopping!

oh god...the 80's are back already!!! i hate leggings and skinny jeans!
Michele Aug 29th 2006 12:17AM
hmmm...i wonder if people are going to start "tight-rolling" their jeans to their ankles again? 2 or 3 pairs of big slouchy wig wam socks layered over leggings with fringe boots anyone?
Michele Aug 29th 2006 12:18AM
ahhh...attack of the big 80's hair!!!

Skinny jeans with the white wrap around shirt is the key look this fall! you will be seeing it EVERYWHERE!
Mara Aug 29th 2006 12:06PM
I just wish I could buy something basic and is made well. Everything is fall apart and shrink to not fit.

I also work in the fashion industry, and while I DO enjoy the artistic aspects of my career, I've come to hate certain things about it. The whole 80's revival is a perfect example of what I DON'T like. How many years have you been hearing stylists (myself included) preach to women about how they need to "Get out of the 80's!"? How many times have you turned on Oprah or one of the other talk shows to see makeovers where women go through amazing transformations? 9 times out of 10 when they rip apart the "before" look the woman had, they say "She looks like she's in an 80's time warp." So, after years of telling women what a horrible time the 80's was for hair, makeup, and clothing, what does the fashion industry decide to do? Answer: Bring back the 80's! If I want to continue to succeed in the fashion industry I will be forced to go along with this dreadful trend, but honestly I don't know how people can take us seriously anymore. I feel like such a hypocrite if I give in. It's all about sucking money out of people (usually women) who feel they MUST buy whatever they're being told is "IN". Since the majority of women now have a large collection of flared and bootcut jeans, it's only natural that the fashion industry will tell them they need to buy the exact opposite; SKINNY JEANS. Fashion is always about youth, so look on the bright side, the 80's trend will ensure that the young and "hip" look just as ridiculous as many older adults.

I don't think the skinny jeans and leggings will go over too well. I still see all the high school and college kids wanting and wearing bell bottoms!
My kids would never wear leggings!
Candi Aug 29th 2006 2:05AM
omg omg NOOOOO not skinny jeans!!! I hated those back in the 90's and I was 5!! Well, I guess I can try to keep my gag reflex in check as long as they don't come out with acid washed skinny jeans.
Terie Aug 29th 2006 2:15AM
I hate trends. I say wear what you like and what you are comfortable with. Don't let the designers dictate what you should be wearing. Just don't throw anything away beacause it all cycles around again..LOL!!!
