Neiman Marcus Top Ten Fall Trends
Neiman Marcus has identified what they feel are the top ten fall trends in women's fashion. They stuck with broad categories, rather than picking individual items, so it's easy to pick out items that will fit in with the trends and your personal tastes. Of course, a top ten list isn't going to cover every single fashionable item (they're missing bows and animal prints, for example), but it's a good place to start. The list includes:
- Black/Gold Handbags
- Red Accents
- Belts
- Tunics
- White Shirts
- Skinny Pants
- Gold Jewelry - and lots of it
- Black Leggings
- Booties and Boots
The only real question here is why they don't offer the same type of list to men, too.

Actually, Neiman Marcus DOES have a Men's TOP 5 Key Items for Fall 2006 list! Guys must have...
1. THE JACKET: Of the moment details include, Plaids in new and unexpected colour mixes, chocolate and navy velvet and the classic blazer re-cut in a more fitted silhoutte with a 2-button, peak-lapel stance.
2. THE GRAPHIC TEE: Vintage-inspired designs including rock band logos, sporting references and alma mater motifs.
3. DARK DENIM JEANS: From the deepest indigo to charcoal and black and cut with a slim fit.
4. DESIGNER LEATHER BELTS: Oversized logos, graphics and images make a bold statement.
5. STATUS SNEAKERS: Skateboarding-inspired designer kicks including The Gucci Boulevard and Prada Sport America's Cup.

It really does look like the same old stuff. I think all the glitz is getting old. It is not really style. It is more shine. I would like to see things that have more construction or architecture to them - tailored?

Um who says man can't carry gold ahndbags. Haven't you ever heard of the man purs? And anyway I know lots of men who are rockin' the gold bling and cowboy boots. And most of them have nice booties, too.

I am loving the trends this fall...especially Belts! I also love that sweater vests are making a comeback..they look great with the belts and white shirt! Are boots really considered a trend? I thought they were always in for fall?

Am I the only one who cannot stand the idea of going back to the 80's fashion? Just looking at the black skinny jeans and the bows makes me want to run! Lots of gold jewelry?!?! I can't take it, I hope this comeback does not last long.

I agree with the person who said she did not want to go back to the 80's. Neither do I. Since I wear mostly classic clothes it isn't a real issue for me.

I wear a size 5 shoe and can often wear a 4 or 4 1/2 depending on the style. It is awfully discouranging to see nice stylish shoes and not be able to buy them because they do not come in my size - most shoes sizes start at 6, sometimes 5 1/2. There are some 3's or 4's kids shoes that I can wear for casual. There are some specialty shoe stores that I have to travel a little distance in order to get to them. I have searched on line with very little success and I am afraid to buy a size 5 on-line because it may not fit and then I have to send them back which is a pain. I just wish manufacturers would make smaller women's size shoes.

Size 4: Zappos gives you free shipping both ways. Nordstrom began life as a specialty shoe store and they still have a very big shoe selection. Also, have you tried googling "womens shoes size 4"?
Now you know what I went through when I was a teenager who wore size 10 shoes. Even size 9s were hard to get. When I went into a shoe store and asked for a particular shoe in in 9 or 10, the salesperson would say "We sold that pair." I got excited when they started ordering two pairs of the 9s and 10s. Now manufacturers are making womens shoes up to size 12.

Ok, I totally agree with chloeb & JoyKluess on the 80s fashion... just remember, the drugs match the fashion, too. So people choosing combos that would sometimes be considered old a few years from now are probably from what they aren't seeing currently. I, for one, agree with Joy about keeping fashion as classic as possible. One should never fit in too much anyway, for what is fashion for than a reminder of inclusion or exclusion.

I agree with you. Its hard for me too to buy shoes because I wear a size five but in most shoes they are just a little big. I have so many shoes that I bought and they don't even fit me and they just sit there in my closet. The only shoes I wear now is flip flops because its like the only thing that fits me. I wish too that they would make smaller sizes in womens shoes.

To the women saying that they have trouble finding shoes-
At least you can wear stylish shoes designed for children if you are desperate. I take a size 12 typically, sometimes an 11 at best, and I personally would like to see LARGER shoes for women.

This years womens fall fashions are nothing to get excited about (and I work in the fashion industry. I love fashion). Im only 26 and I don't want to wear clothes similiar to what I wore as a child. And skinny jeans...look awful on about 95% of women who wear them!
