The
Venetian in Las Vegas has an interesting new amenity, they are the first on the Las Vegas strip to give guests a faster way to deal with the airport. The Venetian has partnered with McCarran Airport to introduce Airport SpeedCheck Advance, a service that lets guests check their luggage and receive their boarding passes while at the hotel. The service lets you check out without having to worry about your luggage and cuts airport wait time. The service costs $20 and the luggage must be dropped off three hours prior to departure. Currently SouthWest Airlines is the only carrier in Las Vegas participating in the
Bags To Go service so it's not a big deal yet but since many hotels are adopting in-room check-in I think we will probably see more of this type of service in the future.

i think its a great idea... however i remember using
this same service at bally's ... before 9/11... it was
really nice to use and worth every penny.. but this is
not the first time on luggage... maybe boarding pass
but not on luggage...

This idea is nothing new.. If you ever traveled to Jamaica and stayed at either any of the Sandals or Beaches resorts you would have noticed that that have what is called "Beach side Check in". This has been up and running for the last 5 years

This is nothing new. It's the same thing as Disney's Magical Express. I think Disney actually does it better. You check your bags at your departing airport and they show up in your room at a Disney Hotel. You never have to worry about them. It's pretty much the same going home. Check them at the Hotel and just pick them up at your home airport.

They are not the first to offer this service. Pre 9/11, most hotels on the strip offered this service for free.

Hey, we have been doing that at our small b&b in Santa Fe since they began doing on-line check ins for flights...and we don't charge our guests anything for the serive.

Sandals/Beaches had stopped the service when we visited Jamaica last year. I hope that they bring it back. It made airport life more bearable.

Prior comments are correct. This service has been available in many resorts and in parts of Europe for many years.
What I saw and certainly speaks to the tribute of our "can do spirit" immediately following the mess in London two days ago, an airport shop in New York offered to package and ship as cargo luggage, a "bathroom" kit with the passangers name, etc. so that items they were forced to discard, would be available at the end of their trip along with their other checked in luggage.

I strongly doubt that all hotels offer this for free.
