Fur Goes Casual in Fall
Real fur has long been one of the materials of choice for the cool-weather clothes of the well dressed and the well-to-do. Even in the face of protestors, it has retained its elegance and you are guaranteed to see many women in furs out in New York City, for example, in the winter. Juicy Couture is trying to bring fur down a little, judging from the look of their Reversible Fleece Hoodie with Rabbit Fur. The cotton fleece hoodie has a drawstring hood and distressed seams, which contrast with its fur vest lining. Though reversible, even having the soft rabbit fur clearly visible does little for the look. Let's face it: you can't dress up a fleece hoodie no matter how much fur you put into it. The only question is to whether pieces like this one will spark a trend of more casual uses of fur, possibly eliminating a lot of the prestige associated with its use, or not. Price: $650.

THE BIBLE IS A SILLY BOOK WRITTEN BY A BUNCH OF MEN. IF YOU BELIEVE IN GOD, GOOD FOR YOU.
SO IT SAYS HE WORE FUR? WELL I WOULD HARDLY EXPECT THE BIBLE TO SAY HE WORE A FUCKIN POLYESTER SUIT!
AS FOR THE BUG STORY IN FOOD ADDITIVES, I GUESS YOU BELIEVE EVERYTHING AOL TELLS YOU. HERE'S SOME NEWS HONEY...WE EAT BUGS UNKNOWINGLY IN OUR FOOD EVERYDAY.
WE HAVE ENOUGH SYNTHETIC MATERIALS ON THIS PLANET TO TAKE THE PLACE OF FUR. IT'S CRUEL TO KILL THEM AND TO BE HONEST IT LOOKS LIKE SHIT ON ANYONE WHO WEARS IT EXCEPT THE ANIMAL.
HAVE A NICE NIGHT PRICE DROPPER AND REMEMBER YOUR HEALTH CAN DISAPPEAR IN A FLASH AND YOUR $10,000 COAT WON'T HELP.FRIGGIN IDIOT.

Nicole, want to know why you can't just let me people "do what they want to do"? Because these animals cannot speak for themselves and someone needs to speak for them. I agree 100% with Juli. No one would blame a "cave person" for their choices when they had no other. We do have other choices. I doubt Jesus would choose to wear fur today considering its used purely for the sake of VANITY in the age and in this country... one of the seven DEADLY SINS!!!

I think some of you need to take a pill. Good grief. Oops, looks like you already drank the kool-aid... you will have to wash the pill down with something else.
Hey, A mink coat is made from large mean voracious weasels. Not good for much other than providing a nice warm silky coat.... (dodges thrown can of paint)
Gee, good thing I am not carrying my usual .45 automatic! ;)

For all of you who are ready to get out the spray paint, just remember most fur coats are insured. When you spray a fur coat the insurance company will furnish the coat owner with a new fur coat. So, in otherwords, you the paint sprayer will be killing the innocent animals that will replace the old coat.

Elaine is right, there are a lot of things in todays world to have a concern about, but I believe that we can all be concerned about more than one thing at a time. Skinning live animals just so people can wear the fur and throwing the bodies on a pile warrents a cause if you ask me. No living being should be treated like that no matter what it is!!!!!!
Alfredo Stroessner Aug 11th 2006 6:42PM
Oh, in case anyone cares, it is a stupid looking coat.

I think its really sad. Iam a volunateer for a rescue and adoption group for animals. I hear all kinds of stories about people and animals. And yes I think some people are just heartless. They adopt a little kitten or puppy and then when the novelity wears off they dont want the cat or dog now thats its big and older and now will be harder to find a home for. People do it to their babies too. They just put them into a dumpster when they dont want them. I can see lions and hawks and snakes killing and eating other animals. They need to to be able to live. We dont need real fur coats to live. I believe if everyone stopped buying real fur that the manufactures would come up with something that was real close to the feel and look of real fur, without the hundreds and thousands of real animals being brutally slaughtered for our benefit of looking good.

Fur, meat, eggs, milk, leather. People, please wake up. We don't need any of it. We are addicted to fashion, and therefore we do whatever to have it, even killing, even torturing. We are addicted to meat, to milk, to eggs, and again, we do anything we want - killing, and torturing, in the name of "nutrition" even though these are the same things that are killing us. I feel no worse for the animals dying for fur than I do for the animals in crates, sick and insane, waiting for a mercy-killing, to be a burger or a nugget or a slab of bacon.
Face it. It's an orgy of blood-letting, and screaming animals out there. We are blind and deaf.
Go vegan.

The wearing of fur is not a new thing, the protesting of fur is not a new thing..I can respect both sides and opinions ( I personally wear fur )...but do not understand how it is NOT okay to wear fur but IS okay for leather (i.e. belts, shoes, etc..) How do you think they get the leather???? Its the skin UNDER the fur!! I guess we should just be wasteful as long as you get your belt.
Lisa Williams Aug 11th 2006 6:53PM
I'd be happy to be arrested for spray painting someone's dead animal coat ... I'd be honored. Hurting other beings is wrong - no matter what your reason. Hope karma smiles on you!
Helen Aug 11th 2006 6:53PM
That's sick............Furs always look better on the animal. The "good fake fur" I have seen is awesome and alot cheaper. But alot of people don't have the self esteem and confidence and pride in themselves to wear it. The "gotta have a BIG name on my clothes people" make me sick.
Get a life.
Tanya Aug 11th 2006 6:54PM
I have no intention of letting PETA or any of you other ****** (add your own descriptor) tell me what I can or cannot wear!!!! If you have an issue with the way these animals are killed then advance your cause in the proper way.
This country was built on freedom of CHOICE. If one of you m-fers dare to throw paint on my fur you better run far and fast.
Jen Aug 11th 2006 6:55PM
All moral issues of fur aside, this item looks absolutely ridiculous. Seriously, its just ugly. I have nothing against fur items but come on. Im sure all that fur could have been put to a better use.
NOTE TO CRAZY ANIMAL RIGHTS PEOPLE
Spraypainting someones fur apparel is vandalism. You spraypaint someones coat, your in trouble. Furthermore when you vandalize a fur coat, the owner is likely to just go buy a new one, equalling twice the dead animals.

This is for Devynn. Wow I can't believe what I am reading. Well I live in Ohio North of the equator and I am against killing animals for fur. I don't wear fur. People killed animals for fur long time ago because they truly need it to stay warm. With all the other options we have to stay warm we don't need it. I have tons of jackets that are not fur and I stay pretty warm. Shaving lambs for clothing vs killing animals for clothing are two totally different things. And most of the fur farms do just whack the animal in the head and they are not completely dead and they are skinned alive. Oh they also anally electrocut them to(that's not brutal at all) If you would really researched every side you would have known that before you wrote that. I dont' know. People in the end are going to do what they want anyway. It seems in this world we live in people just don't have any compassion anymore. It's sad.
Tee Aug 11th 2006 6:59PM
Dude looks a hot mess, with or without the fur.
CHOICE is the operative word in this dialogue!
Are you all more concerned about animals than the fact that our country is losing its competitive edge? How about the point that global warming is destroying our planet? Or better yet, what about the children starving on the other side of your town? Pick a WORTHWHILE, DIFFERENCE-MAKING cause to support!
Liz Aug 11th 2006 7:02PM
P.S. Most serial killers start out as animal abusers.
Kristy Aug 11th 2006 7:08PM
Sigh... Lovely arguments.... I have my own opinion about fur, that, whether you agree or not, is my own opinion, I am not telling the WORLD to agree with me... but I just don't feel comfortable wearing the skins of dead animals... it just gives me the heebie-jeebies... I feel all crawly.... I mean... for some reason, I'm fine with like... leather belts and shoes, but if it has the fur still on it... it's just still too close to the alive animal for me... But AGAIN, that's just my opinion...
kal Aug 11th 2006 7:09PM
The new religious intolerances are soooooooo very tiresome...if it wasn't fur, smoking or SUV's all the unhappy people in the world would find something else to gripe about and make everyone else feel guilty....so pop a couple anti-depressants and get on with YOUR lives. My goodness, don't you have enough going on in your OWN life without butting into everyone else's? EVERYBODY WANTS TO RULE THE WORLD!
Jennifer Aug 11th 2006 7:21PM
It's very sad that with all of the modern advances, people still resort to wearing fur. Honestly, the rabbit needs it more than any of us. True, terrible things happen every day... but animals can't defend themselves and shouldn't be taken advantage of. The fur industry is unnecessarily cruel, and we shouldn't be paying them to torture animals. If someone wants to go out and kill a rabbit with their bare hands, more power to them. But paying someone to do it for you or using high-powered rifles because you couldn't do it otherwise is just stupid. And wearing the evidence just broadcasts the fact.
