Heurtley House, Estate of the Day
Now this is Wright. Check out the Heurtley House, it is considered to be an important home in the career of Frank Lloyd Wright. The home in Oak Park, Illinois is on the list of National Historic Landmarks and located near Wright's home. The home is basically a Wright museum you can live inside. It is full of muted green tones and softly glowing wood. The reproduction furniture adds that perfect touch. It is listed at $4.9 million. After the jump, there's a reason they call this guy a genius.[Thanks, Ben!]

Wow! Just Wow!
Having said that, I must admit that, although I admire the entire look of the house and the ground breaking originality of Wright's Prairy Style, it must be somewhat difficult living in it. Living in a museum is right. How can you add a widescreen TV or a reading lamp, or your favorite art piece on the wall? Even then I could live with that but not with the dining room chairs. Wright's straight-backed geometric furniture is notorious for being incredibly uncomfortable.

In a recent 1.5 million dollar renovation, they did add a drop down projection screen in the playroom. The thing that would bother me about living there is all the people walking by, taking pictures, knocking on the door, and just being nosey!

Ben's right about Wright peepers. We just finished a tour in Ohio and Indiana. But what would bother me most is the low ceilings--and I'm only 5'5".
But I love this Oak Park house. Walked past it about 2 years ago.
