American Airline's Next Generation Business Class

American Airlines has created a new version of business class for their customers. Their Next Generation Business Class has new lie-flat seats that can be moved forward, a personal in-flight entertainment system with audio and video on demand and ergonomically-designed overhead bins. The new tray table design has two tables one on the seat back and one in the console, which can be used separately or together to create one larger area. The new business class will be installed on their Boeing 777 fleet beginning in 2007. Enhancements to American's Boeing 767-300 Business Class are already underway and should be ready in 2007. The press release also promises that they are working on that whole internet in the sky issue as well.

Good to see them working on making their business class comparable to a nice, cheap JetBlue flight.

Kinda like jet blue but without the french airplane and landing gear problems.

Must be nice to be loaded with money. What about the little less fortunates wallets?
Karen Jul 25th 2006 8:05AM
Yes, I agree with jamette - what are you doing for the economy class? We pay $$ and without us you couldnt make it on the few 1st class and business class seats. We deserve to be accomodated as well.

I hope you can also sort out the shortage of meals for the choices you provide in business class as well.

I agree with Jamette and Karen. We always get left out in the cold and if it wasnt for all of us economy fliers all the airlines would be bankrupt. We deserve some nice things to for the money we spend. The business class people are no better than us. They just have more money. But, thats life, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer and left out.

So how much more do you think first and business class fares are? 50% more than coach? Twice as much? Try about ten times as much! Business and first bring in more revenue than you think, and are where the real profits are.

I am beginning to believe the quote "money talks"; it seems even though we live in the wealthiest country in the world, the "fat cats" and the "powers that be" are only interested in making MORE money, therefore catering to the ones with the "fat wallets". I agree that the "low cost" passengers are the ones that make it possible for the "new" changes. The same with the care of our children/elders. It could be said "if the low fares want to fly, "they" have to accept the "conditions". Perhaps there is someone(s) in future that will care enough to at least manifest a few changes without thinking of one's own pocket(s).

As someone who flies constantly for work, I can tell you that the people flying up there pay A LOT More than the people in economy and deserve the extras. People in economy always want Southwest fares with first class treatment...start paying more in economy and then ask for more service...or...fly a different airline.
Lill Jul 25th 2006 8:59AM
Robert Kirkup - ten times as much!!?? Please!! I don't believe anyone is suggesting that the first/business class doesn't deserve their money's worth; the lower fares are simply asking for a bit more (to be included). If the First/Business class pays so much more, why doesn't at least ONE airline choose to cater to ONLY those fares? Are you suggesting that since this is the case, what does it matter regarding the lower fares? If so - shame on you!!

American Airlines and the American carriers can leep trying.........BUT.... they will never compete with the services and attention given by British Airways or Singapore Airlines.
Those two foreign flagged carriers set the GLOBAL standards for service, comfort and attention.
They truly make flying enjoyable.

Business class on American is currently one of the poorest I have seen. Would not pay the premium for this level of comfort or service when competitors offer much better seating and service!
Asif Hossain Jul 25th 2006 9:32AM
I do agree with Stan. Difference in service and comfort between American Airlines and Singapore/ British Airlines is like the difference between a '91 Civic and a '06 Maxima.

Go Jetblue, Just try and use those American Airline frequent flier miles/ They're always booked by bankcard companies and never available. WEanna buy 40,000 miles on American?
Erika Jul 25th 2006 10:04AM
Gee, why don't they just make the entire plane business class? Because you can't get something for nothing. Stop your wining. Everyone has the option to buy a business class ticket. Someone in business class could easily make the argument that they should be paying $200 for their ticket's just like the coach class. Why do they have to pay $2,000 for a ticket and you pay $200 just to be comfortable? Ridiculous argument.

Without carries as BRITISH AIRWAYS and QUANTAS with there outstanding service..... no airline would have a company and there personal to look UP to. They have a standard that has not been surpassed.... keep trying other airlines. We need you for computation is the name of the game! Thank you

The airlines make their money on 'business traveler's', not traveler's in business class because they are the ones who tend to book last minute trips and pay through the nose. The majority of people seated in premium cabins these days are frequent flyer upgrades who are more than likely paying the same if not less for their seats than those in the back of the plane. The full-fare first-class passengers are no longer flying commercial, they charter private jets.
r grunberg Jul 25th 2006 10:33AM
hey little people in the back of the plane stop complaining.you fly for next to nothing and want the comforts that we pay thousands of dollars for.i have worked hard all my life to be able to fly first class and i am willing to pay whatever.work harder make more money and than you too will be able to enjoy the comforts that money brings.that is the american way ain't it grand

Stop complaining all you folks who have to fly "cattle car." If you feel sorry for yourselves now, just try the boarding chutes at Southwest. That's the airline that make you want to go "Mooooo!"
