103" Plasma TV Update
Since our last post on the subject of the 103" plasma screen TV from Matsushita, the Japanese parent company of Panasonic, the company has released its pricing information. The price tag will be $51,000. The Viera PZ600 high-definition TVs will come in 50", 58" and 65" screens, in addition to the 103" size, and prices for those will start at $5,800. It also sounds like the screens will be available earlier than we previously forecasted, with a release date as early as this fall, instead of next year.

Who the HELL would pay 51,000.00 for a tv?? There are starving CHILDREN with no decent clothes or school supplies.

I would tell anyone that would listen unless have alot of money do NOT get a plasma TV. I spent almost $6,000 on the sony plasma 32" alone, plus an additional $800 on the warranty. One month after the warranty gave out my TV crashed. Total had TV was: two years and one month! I thought the warranty was for three years or would have renewed the warranty. But that would have been an additional 800.00 to renew. Also, to get the Plasma TV fixed, would have been almost $1,500 dollars. And they could not guarantee the panels would not blow again. I had surge protector, turned the TV off when it would start getting warm, etc. I now bought a Sony Digital 36" and the sound is better..even the color! It cost me $1,100 plus 110.00 for a three year warranty. I could have saved myself alot of trouble by getting the digital in the first place. I have since talked to people with the same story as mine. And why should a person have to pay almost $800.00 every two years for a warranty with a TV that cost that much anyway? I can say really the only good having the plasma was to say I had a plasma. When I talk to people that say they have a plasma and have not had troubles, ALL of them when asked have said they have had the plasmas for one to two years. I tell them come tell me in a year or two how they STILL like their plasa. Unless have alot of money to burn would not recommend them to anyone!

I agree with Val! Atleast Angelina Jolie realizes that. I think it's just plain out ridiculous! If you ask me..

#2 -- Sounds like you had a bad experience. I've had a plasma for almost 4 years now .. no problems. HOWEVER, I was fortunate enough to RESEARCH enough -- which a lot of people don't do -- and stayed AWAY from Sony. The research paid off - some friends I know informed me that Sony was getting out of the plasma business. How true that is, i haven't discovered. But they never were any good at plasmas anyway, even when i was looking to buy. They were overpriced, relatively featureless ... and overpriced.
Another thing -- where'd you get a 32" plasma from anyway? 99% of the time the begin at 42". If you wanna stick with Sony (seems like you do) make sure you buy what they're good at... traditional 'tube' TVs and maybe a few LCDs.

Tough Sell-I got the Sony 32" at Conn's Appliance which is a very respected store in the south. I am glad your plasma has lasted four years. What kind is it? I gotta repeat what I said earlier though: the sony digital is wonderful and I WISH I had bought it in the first place! The color is even better!
