Burberry Check Shoulder Bag, Handbag of the Day
Since Burberry is trying to remind consumers that there is more to them than their signature "check," keep an eye out for the new ways that they're working their knight logo into designs. This Check Shoulder Bag, for example, has the knight printed on the bag's fabric just beneath the checked print, where consumers can adapt to it without having to give up the plaid cold-turkey. The camel colored bag has PVC and leather trim in chocolate, and the strap has a generous 10" drop. And, for the practically minded, the bag measures in at 13 1/2" x 9 1/2" x 5", with several pockets to keep your various accessories neatly organized. Price: $475.

This is a very attractive bag that will go with most any color decor. It is simple and stylish and works well with multi-facet on-the-go women.

I love Burberry plaid and would hate to see it become a thing of the past. Incorporating the knight would be a welcomed change but don't leave out the plaid. When I shop for Burberry, I only buy something with plaid on the item no matter how big or small just so the plaid is there. At a glance, if you see the trademark plaid, you know it's Burberry. The knight will take a very long time to recognize, considering the years that Burberry has been a fixture in the fashion world. I enjoy watching old movies or TV shows and see someone wearing Burberry. Burberry plaid is timeless. Timelessness is what has made Burberry plaid the fashion icon that is today because it never goes out of style.

If anyone wants Coach handbags in their original all leather styles, they have a 'classics' book that's also on their in-store computers. The prices are pretty good too, with some under $200. I recently bought one and it's still high quality leather and in simple, elegant styles and colors.

$475 for a PVC coated bag? Head over to your favorite flea market, and get one for $25 bucks. Thats about all it takes to make such an item.
Rosa Jul 19th 2006 4:29PM
Hell no! I am not paying a small fortune for a bag, I can get a hundred bags in the streets of Manhattan for the price of a Burberry bag, and they are good looking too, so what If they don't say Burberry, why do people like this brand so much, I just don't get it!, maybe it's just me but I rather tot around my cheap $10 bag and have the rest of my money put away for my kids education, I have no one I want to impress.
Angellica Jul 19th 2006 4:39PM
Change the plaid????? Are they serious??? They need to remember the old addage..... IF IT AIN'T BROKE, DON'T FIX IT!!!!! I have 6 purses by Burberry and love everyone of them. The plaid is their signature.
HEY GUYS..... LEAVE THE PLAID ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHATEVER....WHO CARES!
Maria Mauro Jul 19th 2006 4:42PM
Burberry is recognized imediately even if its a knockoff so if you can afford the real stuff thats great but I love the plaid. I wear my burberry with class and get the respect of a label that one wants when you wear it. It just makes me feel good. Like my Prada, Valentino,Gucci, Fendi, Kenneth Cole purses. One good bag is better than 10 cheap ones. Its just a matter of feeling. I feel good when I wear them. But Burberry is more recognizable and I love when I wear my shawl, and purse. Dont change it. Its what it is. Burberry class.
Cissy Jul 19th 2006 4:56PM
Burberry ditching their plaid would be tantamount to disaster! It is classic and goes with anything....dressy to casual.
Also, the price of a Burberry classic bag is well worth every penny. I bought one 5 years ago, and have used it A LOT, and it still looks like the day I got it.

OK Burberry has a classy line of "Stuff".
But now the real truth how I feel about these
expensive goods.
I can afford them , BUT women are NUTS to fall for
this Myth that they somewhat special wearing this
"Stuff". NO guy ever looks at this, so stop this
obsession in America and stop feeding money to these
Companies, FOOL'S
Rosemarie Passaro Jul 19th 2006 5:02PM
aha
I wrote some negative comments about Burberry
how come it was NOT printed so far ?
Laudine MacTavish Jul 19th 2006 5:06PM
As a Scot - I'd like to know WHY are you changing from the plaid? Can you give a good reason why you are taking this icon and putting something else in its place?
Add the knight if you must, yes --but
LEAVE THE PLAID!
Sharron Jul 19th 2006 5:13PM
Thumbs up to sks, Rosa and betty. To the rest of you, have you watched Oprah's Debt Diet shows. The $20 leather purse I bought 5 or 6 years ago is going great. It even has a pocket on the outside for my cell phone.
Chanda Jul 19th 2006 5:23PM
Bravo! Rosa, betty, sks... and sharron
You are the example of small minded people. That Oprah who hosts these shoes is more a brand fanatic than the worst out there. You think small.. you become small.
Donna Jul 19th 2006 5:24PM
There's nothing wrong with liking quality goods over $10 walmart leatherette. No need to feel defensive because you don't buy nice things. If Oprah's "debt" show has relevance to your life, cool, watch it. Most people buying Burberry don't have money issues. They have quality issues... and good taste!
Chanda Jul 19th 2006 5:28PM
Thanks Donna

Somehow, the disasters of the world minumize the importance of PlAID vs CHEAP come on ladies, you were given a brain USE IT. Would those that you sooooo wish to impress be MORE impressed if you actually did something a bit more constructive with your time and MONEY???? OH WAIT THE FASHION GURUS NEED YOUR "FOLLOW THE LEADER" MONEY how silly of me to forget.
cheryl Jul 19th 2006 5:35PM
To everyone, a 400+ bag does
not denote good taste
I have seen tacky
people covered from head to
toe with Burberry just so you
would know they don't "have money issues"
Good taste has nothing to do with affordability.
It is rather arrogant to suggest money gives you taste.
