What is the Best Vodka?
We have covered a lot of different vodkas here at Luxist and we're pleased to note that as it has become a more and more popular drink, the production quality at many distilleries has skyrocketed, meaning that there are more premium and ultrapremium vodkas on the market than ever before.
For vodka fans, this is good news because it means more choices and better drinks. But with all the options, I ask you - the Luxist reader - what vodka is so good that you're sipping it straight out of the fridge or freezer, that you wouldn't even think of mixing into a cocktail? What vodka is going to convert that stubborn friend who insists that all "all vodkas taste alike"? Is it a brand that is readily available like Grey Goose or Hangar One, or would you choose something more exotic or harder to find, like Siku (which is made with ice harvested from glaciers) or the new Roberto Cavalli Vodka? Perhaps an organic is your preference, like Square One? Or do you like flavored vodkas, such as the refreshing 44°North or Modern Spirits?
We can't narrow it down, so help us out and tell us what brand you think is the best. After all, we only want the best here.

Hangar One! Without a doubt, the best.

Touch Vodka made from honey in Florida is the smoothest vodka made! I sell Hangar One for a living, but was floored by this super smooth vodka on a recent visit.

RAW Vodka which is a premium vodka from Holland is the purest and cleanest Vodka I have ever tasted. I have found it at the hottest clubs in LA and it is usually their premium vodka that they do table service with. The Viper room has it as well as club LAX. I highly recommend it for ultra smooth clean taste with or without any mixers.

I love flavored vodka and Orange V Vodka is my favorite, I usually dont't drink anything straight, but Orange V with a slice of lime on the rocks hits the spot, so smooth and it tastes like Oranges unlike other so called flavored vodkas. It's Organic too!

I've always been an Ultimate Vodka - straight up - and a Grey Goose martini drinker...however I've recently discovered Three Olives vodka....their cherry vodka and chocolate vodka surpass all expectations.

If you have not tried it, Iceberg might surprise you.
Canadian brand distilled from corn. Sounds strange, but it is one of the smoothest I have tasted.
The Chocolate One Jul 20th 2006 6:53PM

3 Vodka. Without a doubt hands-down the best! It's the first vodka to be distilled from Soy - so smooth you don't know you're drinking alcohol!
3 Vodka is the only vodka in the world to receive the first flawless vodka rating of 100 points. 3 Vodka contains zero carbohydrates – the first spirit to receive government approval to list “no carbohydrates” on its packaging.
AWESOME! Until you try it, you can't say you've tasted the best.

Urban Monarch loves hangar one

The Best vodka is Tito's of Texas - smooooooth and potent- Everyone doesn't have it yet, but ask your local liquor store. Grey Goose is also great. Ketel one tasts like turpentine and basic Absolut will get the job done. Cheers!

I would definitely vote for Hangar One. The kaffir lime and mandarin blossom are both things of alcoholic beauty.
I wrote a review of it which can be read here:

I was in the distilled spirits biz for 11 years, and have done seminars on everything.
In my opinion, vodka is for those who do not enjoy the taste of alcohol yet want the effect. The more it tastes like water, the more people like it. It is at the bottom of my spirit category.
If I had to choose;
-Ketel and Stoli tie for the best mixability and value
-Absolut is awful..so is Skyy. Smirnoff beats them both
-Ciroc is white brandy, not vodka. The Hennessy folks needed something to do with their raw eau de vies.
