Posh's Pricy Hair Extensions
What on Earth do you do when you are in Germany, trying to support your husband's soccer team at the 2006 FIFA World Cup, and you need to get your hair extensions redone? If you're Victoria Beckham, first you'll call your stylist at home in England, then you'll hop a $600 flight back and spend almost $3000 and 5 hours getting them put in. Apparently, Posh spends the $3K every three months getting her extensions redone, but she couldn't wait this time because some photographers noticed that she was developing a bald spot where the weave was pulling out her natural hair.
If only the solution to baldness was a plane flight and $3000 away for everyone.

I don't think that if she was going to a quality stylist, the balding was from the weave. If she paid $3000 then the extensions were likely done with bonding with a special glue. That could take your hair out if the stylist isn't skilled, but that's probably not the case here. It's more likely that her balding is the result of stress and/or bad nutrition. It's a problem for both stars and regular folks.

While bad nutrition definitally contributes to hairloss, along with stress and over processing, any knowledgeable hair extension specialist would be able to recognize her hair patterns (inluding baldness, weakness, scalp stress, etc) and develope a method of applying extensions without causing further stress or damage.
As a hair extensions artist, I would recomend that she be usign a new cold fusion mesh method that can be applied, lasts up to 5 months, and is applied in strong points on the scalp with spread out bonds so that weight is applied evenly and lightly over the head, rather than onto individual strands or tracks.
It's a bit rediculous that she is paying $3000 to an extensionist that cannot provide her with services that are not only beautiful, but safe as well.

As an extensionsist, I am surprised that any other professional would be using a method of extensions that would add any additional stress to her hair, especially for the $3000 she is paying.
While poor nutrition and stress may be the cause, any qualified artist wuold be able to recognize her hair pattern, including baldness, weakness, scalp stess, etc and implement an appropriate method of applying extensions that can be worn without pulling. In fact, there are now methods that protect your hair completely so that it can grow out, which is being used on recovering chemotherapy patients that have particularly fragile hair and folicles.

I think it's cute that all of these extensionist/hair stylist have the answer for posh. Speaking from experience and knowing many people that now indudlge in the hair weave life style. YES...it can be very damaging to your hair. Many of my friends and myself have experienced some type of hair loss. Think about it your putting glue/bond in your hair, this is something to bond weave to your hair, how could it not be damaging...I would tell posh try a wig and give your hair a break. There is nothing like a good was and conditioner.....shelia Mixon
