I've certainly seen more fabulous homes in Alpine, New Jersey (a certain $40 million property springs to mind) but this one has a feature I couldn't resist. Outside, it's just a classic brick manor home on a cul-de-sac in the desirable Rio Vista area. Sure, it has plenty of space (13,500 square feet) but that's not it. It sits on 2.13 acres with 250 specimen plantings and trees, a gunite pool and Har-Tru tennis court, nice, but still not amazing. And yes, the eight bedrooms, the theater and the library are all impressive but what sold me on this place was one of the most sybaritic bathrooms I have ever seen. It has a sky and clouds mural on the ceiling, an oriental rug, marble everywhere and a set of stairs leading into the bath that are grander than those of many houses. The house is listed at $8.1 million. After the jump, that lovely bathroom and a few other over-the-top details.
