I don't understand why there are separate categories for "blended scotch" and "blended malt", since Scotch is malt whisky, they're the same thing (unless there was a blended malt whisky not made in Scotland that was more expensive than the most expensive blended Scotch.)

But Johnny Walker Green *is* Scotch -- but it's not blended! It's a vatted malt. Blue is a blended Scotch and a blended malt, but at $200, the 50yo Chivas is going to be a more expensive blended Scotch and blended malt.

That said, I don't trust any of the other numbers anyhow; the Morrison bottling of 1964 Bowmore bourbon cask is more expensive than that Bruichladdich (around $3000, I think), and Dalmore sold their last 62yo bottle for just over 25,000 GBP, and there's $50,000 1937 Glenfiddich available, and so on.

The Scotch blog did a good writeup on how silly it is to try to figure out what "the most expensive Scotch" is:

http://www.thescotchblog.com/2006/05/best_of_scotch__4.html

rich
