he had a luxury dinner, drank fancy scotch/sherries, smoked expensive cigars. sometimes, they went golfing, boating, played tennis, rode motorcycles, backpacked, then went to dinner.
it was excellent for our relationship. he didn't feel as though he wasn't 'one of the guys' anymore. he wasn't spending all his free time with me.
when we did spend our free time together, it was much more enjoyable, relaxing and intimate.

I think the idea the hotel had was an okay concept, but if it was called something so Neanderthal-like, like "Man'cation," it should have had more activities geared towards masculinity so men wouldn't be embarrassed to do it.
Trying to interest men in the things their girlfriends do is pretty stupid. i think bringing "god" into this conversation of male friendship is rather ridiculous for many reasons. if kyle is so concerned about making friendships with males because he might "turn gay"- well that is very close-minded and immature statement. maybe you should try hanging out with guys in an environment like this to show you that gayness is not "catchable".

i think this hotel has a great idea here. men have every right to spend time enjoying what it is they like to do. this idea of reverse-discrimination and male feminism is a joke and you people need to leave the comfort of your bible and see the real world.

i have no doubt in my mind that the majority of males, finances aside, would thoroughly enjoy a vacation of these sorts but are too embarrassed to admit it. society and people like kyle and mel put too much pressure on men to be these manly, beer-belly, and emotionless people that watch football and eat microwave dinners while their wives do the housework.

"men should never spend time together"- this statement makes you sound like a womanizer of sorts. you cant tell me that would wouldn’t want to sit in a huge humidor, eat steak, smoke a cigar, and drink whisky with a bunch of your closest male friends. you must be the type that would rather just watch football on an old lazyboy and eat a bag of potato ships all by yourself. (not my idea of a really good time)

and back to the god thing... i am no biblical scholar, but im pretty darn sure the bible doesn’t say males should be segregated from one another. we would have no identities and our definitions of sexes would be altered altogether. (plus the bible is just a story anyway... no fictional value). oh, and call me crazy, but i dont think Eve was out at the day-spa relaxing and drinking a martini.

deb- i agree with you that woman are underpaid and are not appreciated for the work they do. but statistics show that males are the breadwinners of most households, and thus should be the ones going out with the guys; weather its the spa or to go shoot pool and smoke a cigar. "what a bunch of crap"- you know what is a bunch of crap... walking into a mall and finding one store that carries male clothing while the other 99 stores are entirely devoted to women. that is reverse discrimination and unequal representation if i ever saw it... so stop complaining about guys having some fun even though society says they shouldnt.

lou- i am adamantly opposed to the idea that a game of basketball and lunch at mcdonalds turned you gay... you don’t just become gay because of an incident. the incident may trigger feelings and other things, but the idea has always been with you. likewise, drinking scotch with guys will not "assimilate" you to be gay.

i personally align my views with kate. she understands that men need an escape with other like-minded men to stay sane in this world. the Fairmont has a great business venture here as long as close-minded bible freaks and super-feminists stop getting in the way and let men enjoy themselves for once.
