We recently mentioned Oprah's home improvements. Ever wonder how she commutes to her California home when she does her show in Chicago? Private plane, of course, and she will soon have a new plane to decorate. It has been reported that she will soon receive a custom-built Global Express XRS from Bombardier Aerospace. The $47-million executive jet has seating for 10 passengers and has a leather interior with designer fixtures for the bathroom and galley. There is an aft stateroom for naps as well as a crew rest area and of course a large main cabin with every amenity Oprah could possibly require.
According to New Age beliefs, one's body is a reflection of the use of the world's resources. Flying a private plane for just ten people uses many more times fuel than using a commercial aircraft. Therefore, Oprah's body has many more times the fat of the average world citizen. Tighten up and so will you Oprah. Try it! Love, Erik
Thank you, Thank you, Thank you Melinda... my thoughts exactly when I read the comment from Romy. Thank God the High School Exit Exam is a REQUIREMENT!!!!!!!
I don't care about her. She is a phony like alot of Hollywood. Money is not everything.I don't watch her show. You could not pay me to watch that bull****
I am very sure that it would be greatly appreciated, for all reading these "opinions", if some of you would stop trying to correct another's wrong, by insulting them. That makes you no better then the person that created the indiscretion in the beginning. Oprah donates to a lot of charities. Has adopted (not legally) 10 children in Africa. Also donated an academy for the little girls in the same country. In addition to all of that, she has and still donates countless amount of money to the homeless, educational facilities, cancer associations, etc. Those that choose to insult what *they think* she's about, need to dig deeper into her life. She hasn't forgotten who she is, nor where she came from. She just chose to use her past; to make a better present and future for her, as well as others. Everyone has his/her own way of expressing themselves. If you choose to utilize colloquial spellings or to spell phonetically, then by all means...Go for what you know. The only purpose in your response is to ensure that everyone understands where you're coming from. It's very obvious that we all did; if not...no one would have taken the time to correct what you were saying. Peace and God Bless!
It is kind of hilarious that everyone is poo pooing Oprah because "With the money that she used to by the plane she could have fed a small country." Oprah does not even top the Forbes list of billionaires. If you want to criticize one, criticize all, but I think the main problem is that she is a Black woman. That is what the fuss is all about. So she had a Legends ball. Who are your legends? Elvis, Simon and Garfunkel, Jack Nicholson? It was HER Legends ball. So what if all her legends are Black. She's Black, or didn't you notice. Are your legends all White? Geez. We have Buffett, Gates, and a lot of other rich White men who have much more money than Oprah. What are they doing? The same darn thing. Gates donates a lot of money for educational purposes (literacy programs) for this country and others. This is such a male dominated society. I think most men don't want a woman to have as much as she does, especially one who is Black. It is sad.
FIRST OF ALL, OPRAH DOES REMEMBER WHERE SHE CAME FROM. THAT WAS HER FUEL TO GETTING WHERE SHE IS TODAY. SECOND OF ALL, I BELIEVE STEDMAN IS OUT OF THE PICTURE. AND JUST BECAUSE SHE HAS A BEST FRIEND DOESN'T MAKE HER HOMOSEXUAL. OPRAH DOES WORK FOR HER PAY CHECK AND I AM SURE SHE DOES ALOT MORE WITH HER WEALTH THAN WHAT IS MADE PUBLIC. I THINK SHE HAS SOME GREAT CAUSES SHE CONTRIBUTES TO. IF SHE WANTS TO BUY A PLANE TO TRAVEL IN, WHY NOT? IT IS HER MONEY THAT SHE EARNED. WHY WOULD PEOPLE BE UPSET ABOUT THAT? I AM HAPPY FOR HER.
Melinda.. You're great! Thank God an educated person chimed in. I just read "Average Joe's" comments and the grammar was driving me crazy. You expressed exactly what I was thinking. "A" Joe should consider taking English classes (or more than likely, repeating them). I was just getting ready to send in a comment when I noticed your post. Mine was basically a shadow of everything you said (or should I say, corrected). I think it was "wright" (right) that put me over the edge and made me wish ignorant people could be banned from posting comments.
As far as Oprah's new jet is concerned... if the money was made honestly and without hurting anyone along the way... more power to her or anyone else for that matter who achieves that level of material success. I think most people display anger, jealousy and hostility when they cannot picture themselves achieving a satisfactory degree of success, let alone anything close to that level.
It could be that being young (she is for the degree of success she had achieved), black and a woman is disconcerting for many people because it goes it against what is considered the "norm" in society. She has risen above the odds and proved that determined people can rise above what society tells us that we are capable of achieving.
I believe this threatens some people because they are to lazy or do not have the drive to "buck" the system. They just follow which ever way the current takes them instead of fighting to swim upstream. Therefore, it is much easier (and possibly comforting) to criticize the successful person rather than to admit to their own short comings or accept that they chose different priorities in life.
I say "more power to anyone who knows what they want and goes full steam ahead to achieve it". Success isn't determined on whether you have the newest jet or the latest fashion. It is determined on whether you can look at yourself in the mirror eye to eye and if you can lay your head down at night and sleep in peace with good conscience. If you can look in the mirror or lay your head down on your pillow in peace in your own private jet and feel good about yourself......... MORE POWER TO YOU! :-)
I THINK OPRAH IS A GREAT WOMAN..SHE WORKS SO HARD AND TRIES TO HELP EVERYONE...AND SHE WOULD HELP ALL OF US IF SHE COULD.....OPRAH KEEP UP THE GREAT JOB....WE ALL LOVE YA, MARIA R
IF YOU GOT IT OPRA, SPEND IT, SHARE IT, HELL BURN IT, IF YOU WANT TO. BUT KEEP UP WHAT YOU ARE DOING WITH IT, WHILE YOU CAN. LIFE CAN BE SHORT, AND SO CAN YOUR WEALTH. AND WHY NOT STRAIGHTEN YOUR HAIR..WE ALL DO IT//////
Funny you should edit that comment for punctuation and grammer, yet still manage to overlook "your" (spelled you're). Maybe you should both enroll in an english class.
I think that Oprah, just like any other human being that has made it in this world, deserves to spend her money on whatever she chooses to spend it on. Lots of us only see the end product of what is on her television program and don't realize how hard it is to prepare those shows, day after day, compiling information, editing, hair, make-up, wardrobe, etcetera and running a production company, magazine, Broadway stage production and more. Oprah is a genius and only doing what anyone else does after working hard.....and that is spending their hard earned money on whatever they want to spend it on. Besides, who are we to say that she doesn't work hard for her money? It's her show and she is the producer. It's her own money that she invest back into her self. Besides, she contributes tremendous amounts of money to humanitarian causes. I work for an institution of higher learning that received $20,000,000 from Oprah. Lets not overlook all the good things that she does. Plus I met her on the set of her show a while back and she was a very decent humble person and told me that if she hadn't been a talk show host that she would have loved to have been a singer and sing like her good friend Diana Ross, another celebrity that contributes anonymously to charitable causes. Continued success to Oprah and her Harpo Production company. I hope to one day get a chance to play piano on her show.
Oprah annoys me, but I don't really care;I just ignore her. But yeah, there are a ton of uneducated people that are commenting on this website. Learn to write and speak English correctly. It's very dumb.
It isn't about Oprah, It's about Jesus' ability to do what ever He chooses with whomever He chooses. There's a bigger picture here...bigger than Ms. Oprah's jet. Joan
Thank you for the thought provoking comments. I'm saddened to read that there are people out there, in Internet land, that are unable to state an opinion unless it is a "comeback" with insults and foul language. It further saddens me that a vast majority of Americans have lost hold of the basic concepts of grammer, spelling and vocabulary.
As for Oprah, she is just like any other person out there trying to make it through each day. She has her negative qualities along with positive qualities. I do, however, have a friend who appeared on Oprah's show, along with Dr. Phil. Oprah and Phil crushed her. Phil raked her over the coals and Oprah just let him. Now, my friend is suffereing, tremendously, from bipolar disease (diagnosed shortly after appearing on Oprah). Oprah and Phil were not at all concerned for her well being, she was attacked on the show with things she was very unprepared for and which were certainly not discussed with her in advance. This is a big negative! BUT, on a positive note, Oprah has done a tremendous amount of good with her money, at least from what I have read.
I think what matters most, for any person, is that at the end of the day they can say they tried their best to make a difference not only in their own lives, but in the lives of others.
AT FIRST I WOULD AGREE WITH THOSE WHO CALL OPRAH A "SELLOUT" WHO DOESNT HELP HER OWN. BUT NEXTTIME BEFORE I MAKE AN ASSUMPTION, I WILL DO MY HOMEWORK 1ST! OPRAH IS THE #1 CONTRIBUTOR AMONG BLACKS. YES WE SEE HER GIVING AWAY CARS TO A PROMINATE WHITE AUDIENCE, BUT AFTER THE SHOW SHES NOT DONE. HOW MANY OF THE PEOPLE ON THIS COMMENT SECTION DONATED TO HURRICANE KATRINA? NOW BEFORE WE START TO JUDGE OTHERS, TAKE A LOOK AT OURSELVES. BESIDES, EVEN IF SHE DIDNT "GIVE" AWAY MONEY TO THE UNCF, KATRINA VICTIMS, AIDS RELIEF ETC....WHO ARE WE TO SAY WHAT SHE HAS TO DO WITH HER OWN MONEY? LETS HELP EACHOTHER, AND OURSELVES, AND LEAVE THE JUDGING TO GOD.

What I think is sad is that I actually took the time to read everyone's opinions..........who cares how she got her money and what the woman buys.
