We first saw this at the Westin with t
he white tea scent that many of you found so beguiling. Now other hotels are following suit with their own signature scents.
UPI reports that the Sheraton has new fig, bergamot, jasmine and freesia scent and that their Four Points hotels use apple cinnamon for a homey approach. The Omni chain has chosen the clean scent of lemongrass and green tea for their lobbies. The scent is just part of
Omni's new Sensation offerings which include the Sensation Bar, a minbar that includes a moleskine notebook, deck of cards, CD, mojito jelly beans, pomegranate lip balm and a lavender pillow mist.

Vivian Hunter--are you kidding me? That comment was about as insensitive as it can get. I don't have asthma nor allergies but to imply that people with allergies shouldn't stay at hotels is absurd! What? No vacations if you have perfume allergies? No business trips? No out of town weddings or funerals? Get real!

My sympathy to fellow "scent" victims. I too have had to leave hotels because the fragrance hits me like a brick as soon as I walk in the room, and if I stay, I become ill. Very few hotels/motels are unaware or unwilling to do anything about it. Fragrances are made of toxic petro-chemicals--neurotoxins to be exact. They are so concerned these days about keeping non-smoking customers happy, what about us?! (and if it's a non-smoking room why do they keep spraying all that crap anyway!)

I think the lobbies in the hotel should not be perfumey. I think there should be unscented rooms for people who have bad allergies.
