Rimowa: Luxury Cars Have Needs, Too!
Rimowa cases --the Cristal of luggage -- have more than 100 years of experience under their belts. Now that they've figured out that if you make high-dollar luggage, you should do it for high-dollar customers and their high-dollar cars.
To this end, Rimowa is now pimping made-to-measure car luggage sets. The cars they're targeting? BMW (5 series and 7 series), Audi (A6 and A8), and Mercedes (E and S class).
The company claims that "each of the exclusive sets is perfectly tailored to the standard empty car boot of these models" ("boot" here clearly being an expensive way to say "trunk").
To which I say: '89 Tercel drivers, are you going to take this?!

They need to be custom fitted, because they're so prone to uglifying scratches and dents. Check Rimowa luggage one time, and suddenly you'll be feeling sill about your investment.

I think this is a brilliant idea! But what happens when you load a collection into the baggage compartments of your Leer or Gulfstream? The whole stack falls apart!
PS "Boot" is actually how the British refer to their trunks...

Ferrari has offered custom-made luggage that fits perfectly in the truck for years. It used to be made by Connolly, but I think that has recently been changed. This type of luggage is not meant to be checked - it is only intended to be used with the car for road trips and it is possible to keep it in good shape.

Rimowa's Aluminum Magnesium hand made luggage is a German classic. I believe it is the last luggage not made in China. Eitherway, this German design gem is super tough. Scratches are what give it their patina. I like my Rimowa Aluminum luggage scratched, it is like a baseball uniform. Too clean is too telling that you are a bench warmer. The grooves help keep the scratches down too and their luggage is the lightest in the world. Their new slogan is perfect, Every Case Tells a Story!
My pick for the best luggage in the world. Tumi is made in China and breaks easily, Samsonite is also made in China crap. Rimowa has been making luggage for over 100 years. Longer than anyone and still made in Germany, by their own factory.
