The Razor's Edge
According to unconfirmed reports from my siblings, I missed Mother's Day entirely. With Father's Day looming menacingly on the horizon, I thank my lucky stars that Brave Soldier has commisioned this $149 carbon fiber razor by Razorkraft.I mean, whose dad is complete without a featherweight, indestructible, space-age, artisanal razor?
And with next year's Mother's Day squarely on my calendar, I'm taking heart in Brave Soldier's assurances that this razor is suitable for use by both men and women. Handcrafted in Silverado, California, each little razor takes the artist over four days to create. I, of course, took exactly nine months to create ... which is why I just may have to pony up $149 for the greatest artist ever: my mom.

Indestructable?? Let me run over it with a steamroller and burn it with a blow torch, well see if its indestructable. Are the blades supposed to last a lifetime?

At $149 how does it shave?
If it feels like a chain saw going across my face and leaves me bloody why bother, the cheap ones do that for far less. BUT, if it feels like silk and doesn't draw blood and The blades are good for more than 5 shaves, then it might be worth it. My skin will always feel the same no matter what razor I use, it how I feel while using the razor that counts, do I feel pain, do I bleed, can I get close without pain and blood? That is what I want to know.
ROBIN May 21st 2006 2:43PM
At this price the blades better last forever.
Jason May 21st 2006 2:44PM
Look like the mach 3 turbo with an anal beed on the end of it.
Troy May 21st 2006 2:54PM
Check the link and read. This is not about the blade..I wish it was. Anne Metz should have made note of this, but maybe she also does marketing for this company as well as marketing for the cell phone companies that claim their service works the entire USA.
This is only about the HANDLE!!!! Who cares! The blades are your standard mach 3's
Moe May 21st 2006 2:54PM
Using a Mach III (3 blade) razor head it is already outdated. It should use a Fusion (5 blade) razor head and vibrate.

Only an idiot could possibly think this was good buy.

Anyone willing to pay $149.00 for a fancy-schmantzy version of a Gillette Mach 3 razor is either nuts or has way too much money on his hands---in which case I'll volunteer to help relieve him of some of his monetary burden. Why does this razor cost $149? Because it has a fancy carbon fiber handle and a knob (stainless steel? titanium?) at either end of the barrel? So what??? It doesn't even have a rubber grip on the handle (like the Mach 3) so I can picture it slipping from the shaver's hand and falling into the sink or on the floor, where we are told it won't break. Wow!! On the other hand my Gillette won't break if I accidentally drop it, either, so what's the big deal. The fact is that the business end of this razor looks no different than any other triple blade razor and is probably taken from a store bought Gillette or Schick and fitted to the carbon fiber handle. And as for each razor taking 4 days (thats 32 man hours based on an 8-hour workday) to make? Awww, come on now, who's kidding who? Buying this razor to shave with is like buying a Rolex to tell the time...you can get just as close a shave with a $5 Gillette razor and you can get just as accurate a time reading from a $20 Timex quartz-crystal wristwatch. All you are paying more for are the case and brand-name...other than that either will give you just as accurate a time reading and just as close a shave. But I'm willing to bet there are fools out there vain enough to be willing to pony up $149 for this dressed-up razor.

Does anybody remember the Chevy Chase skit on three bladed razors on SNL?
Jason May 21st 2006 3:01PM
Whoever spends that much money on a razor needs to put the crack pipe down. There will be a recall on this razor.
BEARDED GUY May 21st 2006 3:04PM
Does it come with a blond and blow job?
John May 21st 2006 3:04PM
It says:
Each razor is hand-crafted and takes the artist over 4 days to create.

If anyone pays that much for a razor is nuts. It would have to jump out the package and shave me all by itself for me to pay that much for something thats not that specail
