Build-Your-Own Bikini
We've known for some time that you can create your own polo shirts, ties and hats at Ralph Lauren's website. By selecting the color combinations for the main piece and the accenting polo pony, you can end up with someting unique that flatters your coloring and suits your style. This summer, the designer has added to the idea with create-your-own bikini and sarong options for women. The basic bikini is made out of stretch mesh pique, Polo's signature suit material. It has a low-cut halter top and a low-rise bikini-style bottom that pair to creat a sexy silhouette. The top and bottom pieces can be the same or different colors and are $42 each. The sarong is short, with a side tie, and is $50. The only feature that would improve the process is if you could upload your own photo to the website and see how it looks on before you buy it.

$84 for a bathing suit? Are you guys nuts? I could get something made of the same material for a third of that price! And it's not even like it's an unusual style - I could find that anywhere. Make it original or out of gold, if you plan on charging that much for so little cloth!

That is absolutely abserd. I would never pay that kind of money for a swimsuit that I could buy some where else for way way less money. Is the designer on drugs or what. That is totally out of control.

I agree, $84.00 for a bathing suit is just way too much! The only reason you can charge that much is because of the dumb little polo emblem that dumb little people pay for. The same thing can be found at Wal-Mart for $24.00. Who cares about the emblem!!!! Once again, Polo has over priced everthing they make!

Being able to build your own bikini is nothing new. You can find that option in catalogs for a way less price. So your not going to find me jumping up and down from a solid color bikini that Ralph makes when I can find plenty of more options in styles and colors for an even cheaper price!

Hey gals $84.00 bucks doesn't seem bad if it makes you look as godd as the model pictured.
Tracy May 24th 2006 8:41AM
Yes, but nothing could make that model look bad. I agree, to get me to pay that price, the suit needs to be unique. It has to be something that the average women who would wear a bikini would want to put on. More options would sway me.

$84.00 truly is over the top. especially when we can buy two or three for that price. don't be foolish, girls. go to tjmaxx or marshalls if you really want a polo emblem on your swimsuit. and get a cover up and sandals for that price.
