The Hummer H1 is being
discontinued by General Motors this year, which means that the last ones will be built in June. The car was the cornerstone of the Hummer brand, and though the company has sold 12,000 of the $140,000 (base price of $106,000) vehicles since they were introduced in 1992, spokespeople say that they plan to focus on models that will have a broader appeal. GM reps also noted that rising gas prices didn't impact their decision because their customer base for the massive SUV isn't comprised of people who typically worry about that sort of thing. They do, however, worry about more luxury options, which is where GM will be taking the brand.

This is a sad day. Why would they discontinue the only Hummer worth owning?

This is a highly dissapointing development. As a present H1 owner, I have truly enjoyed the ability to take my wife and children comfortably to beautiful, out-of-the way spots they would not otherwise have visited. The ownership experience has been interesting, with most H2 dealerships not knowing how to work on many of the complex H1 systems. I fear the situation will worsen, since new H1s will no longer be sold.

General Motors definitely doing well and going for a long ride with their unique vehilces. Army/jeep autos concept their prerogative. H2 Is great!

Even though i am 14 i am truly disgusted at there desision the h1 is the mother of off road vehicles worth owning! i have tons of hummer t shirts and they all have or represent the h1. the h2 is just a stupid gas guzzling show off car even though i don't care about global warming i hate it and the h3 even though it is a tad bit under powered is a better vehicle than the h2 but it still not better than the h1! it breaks my heart that they would stop making such a nice vehicle
