A while back I wrote
about t
he fire at the Silver Oak
winery in Northern California. It had been report that they lost much of their stock of past and current vintages.
For a while they weren't selling the well-regarded
Silver Oak Alexander Valley
Cabernet 2001. They have just found another 15 cases and are
selling them over at Porthos. They
also unearthed a few big bottles including a $799 quadruple magnum which has already been sold and a pair of
double magnums (three liters) which are selling for $399. They are selling the wine on a first come, first sell basis
so once its gone, its gone. The standard sized wine is selling for $59.99 per bottle. The wine is described as being a
spicy and flavorful Cabernet with notes of oak, cassis and licorice.
