Oprah's Home Improvements
Oprah's
$50 million mansion just outside Santa Barbara in Montecito, California, has been nicknamed Oprah's Hearst Castle, due to its size and luxury. The property covers some 42 acres
and the house itself is 23,000 square feet. It has 6 bedrooms, 14 bathrooms and, as you might imagine, just about
everything else. Some of the improvements Oprah has
made since purchasing the house in 2001 include the installation of a massive home theater, building a man-made lake
with rare fish and having Montecito sandstone bricks hand-laid in the quarter-mile long driveway. She has also put in a
closet the size of an ordinary master bedroom, not for her, but for Stedman to keep what must be a large suit collection.

Stop hating Oprah! If you had her kind of money you'd buy whatever your heart desired.. She earned her money, fortune and fame.. Now she's super rich and can buy whatever she wants.. If I were in her shoes i'd do the same and don't say you wouldn't.
Sabrina May 26th 2006 9:17PM
Oprah is an amazing person and not only does she have amazing homes but she also gives a lot of her money away that she doesn't have to. Stop hating- she is super generous and many that have way more money than her don't do jack crap.
Colleen Jun 5th 2006 9:08PM
Oprah has done more to enrich and raise the consciousness of people in this country than anyone else in the last 15 years. She continues to WORK to make the world a better place. Oprah has earned
her good fortune -- be happy for her.

Oprah is a lady of distinction in every way. She has earned her way. She came from a less than exemplary childhood and early life. Oprah has done more for the unsung than most of the people who have more resources than she. The weekend party she gave for the "legends" and "Young'uns" was the most thoughtful gift anyone could have given. The entire affair was unmatched in style, grace, taste and willful spirit. Oprah knows what money is for and she is willing to use it to make others smile, cry and be happy. May God send us many more Oprahs.

Oprah should be ashamed of herself! I cringe at the sight of her selfish face! She didn't "EARN" a thing. She just got "LUCKY". If she was so kind & generous as you all are saying she is, she'd be helping the less fortunate!
She should take lessons from Angelina Jolie on what it means to be "kind & generous".
Sue Jun 5th 2006 9:53PM
OPRAH should be more like ANGELINA JOLIE???? IF ANYTHING Oprah paved the way for women like Angelina. OPRAH'S OLDER DONTCHKNO? Oprah's been giving humanitarian help for longer, just cuz shes been around longer! Besdies which, seems Oprah is one of the few folks working at world Peace who recognize the poor and starving in THE USA! I'm not discrediting the work of people who focus on other countries, but hey guys.. whats going on in your own backyard? Can ya lend a hand ?
sandra Jun 5th 2006 9:54PM
i agree with v look at other will off people and see there example of what a giveing and loveing person is realy!
Jean H Jun 5th 2006 10:18PM
For those of you who say Oprah is selfish. You don't watch the show or you would know that she donates her time and money to those less fortunate in very poor African countries building schools and sending supplies to help the poor. she also has done much for the hurricane Katrina victums building homes for them. at one point she donated her own money 10 million for those less fortunate. and she is also using her money to help capture sex offenders and get them off the street. so those who say she is selfish you dont know what you are talking about. She is the least selfish person on earth she knows she is blessed and does much to help other. don't hate because she has a lot at least she tries to do good things with her money. More than can be said for many wealthy people, they need to take a lesson from her.
Patricia Mc Laughlin Jun 5th 2006 10:19PM
In my opinion Oprah has earned her wealth and fortune. All her good deeds to people less fortunate than her is her true award. I wish her sucess on her venture and she is a true "pay it foward" type of person. People need to be less criticle of people and jealous of the fortune and instead try to focus on making this world a better place
jacqueline Jun 5th 2006 10:34PM
i can understand the thoughts of some writers regarding oprah. i think of her most highly however she does like to name drop, buy her position among the social elite (singers, actors, media stars, etc.,) and insist she "belongs"; and apparantly she does. if you watched her shows about 10 years back it is quite obvious that she was in a "learning stage" and soaking up the lessons of culture, class etc. yes her heart is golden and she lets all know of most of her good-doings. i love oprah but as the saying goes, "you can take the girl out of the her "neighborhood"; but you cannot take the "neighborhood" out of the girl."
justright Jun 5th 2006 10:41PM
Hmmmm.... let's see what are Bill Gates, Donald Trump and the other rich white males doing to help the "world" and less fortunate? I think Oprah is to be commended. Of course there is more to be done, however, if more wealthy people would contribute a portion of what she already has, that would possibly help to alleviate poverty to a degree in our country and worldwide!!! Get off Oprah, what about Ms.Heinz??
Dan Jun 5th 2006 10:47PM
Oprah is an AMAZING person. Not many people with her wealth do what she does. Many people just give for tax purposes, but Oprah gives tens times more. She's also a real person. She's not afraid to talk about where she came from & what she went through. She deserves to be happy and do whatever she pleases. Stop being jealous, yes jealous, and start helping the world like she's doing.
Marie Jun 6th 2006 12:06AM
Oprah is wonderful! She is a great example of a woman who loves God and His creation in all parts of the world including the U.S. She is a cheerful giver. I'm tired of those individuals who are jealous, ignorant, and unhappy with their own lives so they have to tear down others. Oprah - keep doing what you do, keep getting better, and ignore the naysayers. You are blessed and you know that your blessings not only come from hard work but from the good Lord. Thank you for giving with a generous heart. You are a constant reminder of "it's better to give than to receive."
Chelo Jun 6th 2006 12:34AM
Wow,Amazing to hear if Oprah deserves having or not if she earned it or not. People the truth of the matter is that it is a principle "Biblical" at that "GIVE AND IT WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU. A GOOD MEASURE, PRESSED DOWN, SHAKEN TOGETHER AND RUNNING OVER WITH THE MEASURE YOU GIVE IT WILL BE GIVEN TO YOU. She gives much therefor will gain much. may GOD continue to bless her!!!!!!
kela kamaunu Jun 6th 2006 12:55AM
I believe that Oprah has been blessed by God with struggles and triumph. She has had a very difficult childhood which was her driving force to break stronghold's and barriers. She did earn her success, but it came to her by the grace of our Creator who gives tremendously. I also believe, that if you ask Oprah, she would say that all the credit belongs to the Almighty One. Some people praise her for her works, she is very generous, but remember that her strength comes from the Lord. I hope Oprah thanks the Lord for using her as a vessel to minister love and opportunity to the world. May Oprah always heed to the directions of the Lord, so that it will be well with her later. God bless you Oprah.
