Another exciting jewelry auction is taking place this
spring. We've seen auctions from
Princess Margaret and
Mrs. Kroc of the McDonald's
fortune. Now jewels from another famous name, Madame Claude Arpels will be the focus of
Sotheby's Magnificent Jewels sale to be held in Geneva on May 18,
2006. Madame Arpels collection includes, of course, many pieces by Van Cleef & Arpels. The collection is 90
lots and proceeds will be divided divided between a family charitable trust, the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation
and the Cancer Research Institute. Pieces in the collection are estimated to sell for between $1,500 to $170,000.
and includes diamonds, rubies, and Madame Arpel's favorite combination, diamonds and sapphires.
