I'm a sucker for a
good
yacht donation story. The classic
sailing vessel shown here, The
Ring-Andersen, was
recently donated to the Virginia
Maritime Heritage Foundation. The Ring-Andersen was originally built as a cargo ship in 1948 but was refitted as a
sailing yacht. The ship which has been appraised at $3.2 million was given by an anonymous donor. The ship, which as
been used as a charter vessel in the past, may end up being sold within the next few years to provide income for the
foundation. For now, the ships is moored in the Elizabeth River next to the schooner, Virginia. The Ring-Andersen
may be sold again in a couple of years in order to raise funds for an endowment to provide income for the foundation.
