Or - come in your own car and stay in the Carniege Suite for 10 nights and save 1000 bucks.

Was married at the castle, the ultimate wedding but would not spend 10 grand for a night
Rolf Apr 5th 2006 3:26PM
You could fly to England or Ireland and stay in an authentic castle for a week for less.

For 10 grand, you can fly first class to Bora Bora and sleep on the beach for a week.

Not worth it. Food is second rate. Place is dirty and service stinks. Take a look at the kitchen before you eat.

Remind me again what is so special about this place?
Was at a wedding here, food I will not brag about it. I wanted to get married there and I was told I have to pay them $10,000 so I can still pay per head to have my wedding there.
What a waste.....
Shhh.... Apr 5th 2006 4:23PM
They should be ashamed....Everyone who works there walks around with their nose way to high for my taste.
Stay away.

I have never been there and based on the above comments, I will never go there even if the price came down $9,900.
Janine Apr 5th 2006 4:38PM
Darn, 10K for one night? I could think of better things to do with that and for a lot longer than one night!

We had our daughter's wedding reception at a similar place in California. The "my way or the highway" attitude that these places have does not set up well with me. Ambiance and food was great.....attitude was bad.

They really have to be kidding. My cousin was married there and it so was not worth the money that they had to pay. They were jipped an hour from there time, were promised a dinner party for the whole wedding party to make up for it and never received it. Not what it was all cracked up to be. Definitely not worth paying $10,000 for just one night. Can take a beautiful vacation for more than a week at the price.

i would rather play in the World Series of Poke

All that for the house that Hot Dogs built. Otto Kahn was the original owner and he made his money in........you guessed it...........
John Palazzini Apr 5th 2006 7:46PM
Its phoney-riche. For that sum of money, you can fly to Florence, Italy, stay at Palazzo Brufani for 2 weeks, have the finest food and wines from the finest china and crystal, and bathe in the legitimate luxories of a truly ancient and civilized culture. I know..........I've done it!

i ve been to the oheka castle for many affairs.all i could say is "top notch" from start to finish.excellent staff and food.

I grew up in Oheka Castle thirty years ago when it was a private school. I go back to visit from time to time.
I agree that the staff can learn to be more responsive to their "paying" customers.
By the way, Otto Kahn made his money as a money lender on Wall Street. He was jewish with strong ties to Germany. He died mysteriously at his club in Manhattan just before WWII (1934).His ghost still lives at Oheka Castle.
