Point Lookout, Estate of the Day
It's not really an
estate, it's actually a conference/retreat center but if you ever need a secret lair this is the place. Point Lookout is tucked into
387 acres of Maine woods on Ducktrap Mountain. The mountainside retreat was built by the credit card company MBNA. The
sprawling compound has eight main buildings and 106 log cabins. The main conference center has views over the islands
of Penobscot Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. It has state-of-the-art business systems and large conference rooms with
glossy wooden tables and large fireplaces. The center also has all sorts of indoor and outdoor recreational areas
including a bowling alley. It's priced at $26.4 million which seems a little ambitious but it could be converted to a
resort or perhaps the ultimate place for a large family to hold reunions. More shots of this scenic retreat after the
jump.[via Luxury Real Estate]

Don't let the scientologists get ahold of this one...
But at 27 million, I think the church has better things to spend their money on (like lawyers.)
Very nice property, especially if you subdivided it, but seems way too businessy for a family retreat.

I am curious whether this property might be avaiable to rent for a large meeting. Who would I contact?

I live in the local area and actually worked at Point Lookout for 5 years when it was owned by MBNA. I was wondering if any thought has been given to selling off pieces of the property? I'm currently interested in the Bowling Center/gymnasium complex.
