Patti LaBelle's Home, Estate of the Day

Through a post on Luxury Real Estate (via the Philadelphia Inquirer) comes the estate of Patti LaBelle. The diva is putting her Wynnewood, Pennsylvania home on the market for $1.5 million. LaBelle bought the house in 1998 and it has been the setting for her cooking shows (as well as appearing on MTV's "Cribs"). The four bedroom home also has a guest house and decadent indoor pool. It has a living room with fireplace, gourmet kitchen, and a formal dining room with separate parlor. The elaborate main bedroom has a fireplace, step-up bed platform, two walk-in closets and a deluxe bath with steam shower. After the jump, diva decor.

The house is pretty simple. I was looking for a more expensive house inside and out. Not worth 1.5 million unless what she has inside is worth it.

This house is a great buy at 1.5 million. My sister just sold a summer home on the waterfront in Michigan much smaller then this for 1.6 million. By location, location, location is the key. The indoor pool alone is worth a cool million.

Can we just stop and get a grip? The home is not being sold furnished - you won't have to live with her "clutter" or decorating sense. Your stuff will go in this home and you will be able to decorate it the way that suits you. It is clear she decorated the house to suit herself, but when house shopping, you cannot evaluate any home on the basis of it's decorating scheme or neatness. Should you buy it, you will not be living with either. So, let's talk about how the house stacks up against other homes in the area for square footage, room size, age of appliances, the condition of the plumbing, floors, carpeting, and cost of comparable homes on similar lots. Etc., etc.,etc. So her taste in decorating doesn't jive with yours...get a grip, move on and start evaluating the home on the basis of it's condition and functionality for you.

It's obvious Anthony that you know nothing about real music or singing.I doubt that Patti Labelle would be where she is today if she could not sing.I guess you must be accustomed to listening to polka or drug induced heavy metal or something like that.

Gosh, people really are critical of a house they prob'ly can't afford. 1.5million is a steal for this neighborhood. And any potential homebuyer has to realize that cosmetics can be changed to alter one's own personal taste. Seriously, is a houseplant all that noteworthy? And to the buffoon who said Miss LaBelle needs singing lessons, you're ignorant. She has a remarkable and long career, a 5.5 octave range which is virtually unheard of, and scores of awards, records, a Grammy, lifetime achievment honors, and accolades from her peers and fans alike. How does your voice stand up to that?

One of the things I like most about singer Patti LaBelle is the fact that she remembers her roots and is a good person. Her home is one of comfort, not excess, and is a reflection of so much I associate with Patti LaBelle. As a single father, it is likely I will never be able to live in a home even one tenth as nice as this home. I struggle to make ends meet and have a very modest home of my own and appreciate the blessings God gives me. As a person of faith, I suspect Patti LaBelle is far more concerned about storing up treasures in heaven than she is here on earth. I think it is refreshing to see a celebrity home which is of relatively modest proportions, is tastefully decorated, and looks comfortable.

This house is indeed a home that could only belong to the one and only last of the true diva's. Patty, " You go girl". Love you , and love your mansion..Linda

House is ok, alot of clutter. It does not look inviting, but foreboding and cold. You can sense that no one has lived there for a while. At any price a house has to give off a "home" atmosphere, this is lacking it that the whole way through. Pool is ok, but a beautiful rock pool, with heated rocks and other extra's would have added to this property. The house is well, just a building with odd art, and uncomfortable furniture. It is too dark in the lower level to make anyone feel like entertaining in that area.

It's a nice home,I do agree it does have a lot of clutter BUT hey not everyone that has millions of dollars wants or needs to live in large exclusive homes.
Ms. Labelle's home looks very cozy and lived in; not just something she stays in when she is in that part of town.

Miss La Belle, if your eyes happen to read this, my applause to you!!! You have wonderful taste and class all the way around, honestly. I just want to say that I am impressed as far as my rating is concerned in terms of responding here, but am very curious to see the home that Ms.La Belle choses next! :) I wonder if she will remain in the same area or if she plans to relocate to another coast...PA is a beautiful place to leave!

I LOVE HER HOME, IT ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE SHE LIVED THERE! SOME CELEBRITY HOMES ARE SO IMPRESSIVE THAT THEY DONT LOOK LIKE THEY EVER LIVED IN THEM, BUT PATTI HOUSE SHOWS SHE ACTUALLY LIVED IN HERS!

I WOULD BUY IT AS A GET-AWAY HOME

I like the house, it is not my style but it is a nice home and worth the asking price. I have seen more elaborate homes, but they were also more expensive. Remember, you are not seeing the entire home. To the individual that made the comment about her voice, you wish you could "yell" like her and make the money she makes. Evidently many people like her "yelling", myself included.

Just because you have fame and fortune, doesn't mean you have taste. Patti, may I suggest that in your next home you call in an interior designer.
Ramona Maxwell Mar 19th 2006 10:21PM
What can I say the home is just like Patti herself.Very warm and touchable. When you look at the pictures it makes you feel welcome.A house is not a home unless you live in it.1.5 million is nothing for the warmth and comfort you would get purchasing this home. You are not on stage when you are at home you are pleasing only yourself. If you have followed Patti you will appeciate her taste.

Having grown up in West Philadelphia and knowing Patty used to live in another area I think the lady has quite a place.
Many of the postings here seem as though they come from people who don't have a Pot to ____ in or they are jealous of what Patty has done with her life.
I thank the lady for being a role model to our community and perhaps a mighty oak will grow from the seedlings Patty has inspired.
Wynnewood is a very nice suburb of Philly and many a folk enjoy living near City Avenue area.
God Bless Patty!
And THANK YOU!!

Dag, there are some str8 up HATERS here. I you know anything about Ms Labelle she isn't bout all the extravagance and fan fare. She is a REAL PERSON, the house is off the chain and god blessed her so she made the money to afford it. It's a shame folks hate so much that they can't even be happy for a sister who has made it and given it back in so many ways.
Love you Pattie
