Victoria's Secret doesn't have the lock
on diamond garments. This year's 2006
Sports Illustrated Swimsuit
issue features the $
30 million Diamond Bikini. The bikini,
designed by Susan Rosen with Steinmetz Diamonds, contains over 150 carats of D Flawless diamonds. Some of the diamonds
are the rarest in the world including a 51-carat, pear-shaped diamond, a 30-carat emerald cut, a pair of 15 carat
rounds and a pair of eight carat pear shapeds. The stones are sent in platinum for one valuable and very tiny
bikini. After the jump, Molly Sims models the teeny weeny pricey bikini.

Of course, anyone can tear up this pic. But lets be real... no one is going to wind up spending that kind of money on an item like this... ok well maybe Paris Hilton. To call the model a whore is ridiculous, and to say ::if more women took care of themselves half of these negitive comments wouldn't be on here.:: laughable in its own right.... SPELLING COUNTS DEAR... I believe its negative (wink)... I, for one, think she is a beautiful girl, I think that its a waste of money, but is only expressive of the oppulent life we fortunate americans live and are privy to. And to personally attack a model based on doing what she is paid to do, my dears, me thinks your green-eyed monster is showing...

This is SO close to porn it's not funny. No wonder women starve themselves, laser every hair off their bodies or tweeze it or wax it and generally feel worthless; because a picture like this is sensationalized. It's bad enough this is printed in a magazine but now it's on the web too. Where's the male equivalent Speedo?? and would men allow that?? Then again, women aren't as tasteless as to want to view it.

And THIS is why I'm still single ... men want this, and this doesn't exist. This is cheap trash and disrespectful to REAL women everywhere!

There is no reason to cast aspersions on Ms. Simm's character, but airbrushing definitely occurred, as it does in any such modeling photo. No one, not even the lovely Ms. Simms, looks like that, no matter how much she diets and exercises.

Numerous threads to comment on here:
If someone were to ask me, as a male, to model a diamond-studded male version of this "bathing suit" (ha ha), I would do it. There's nothing wrong with modeling skimpy clothing. It's what one does when it's on (which leads me to agree that the hip-swinging, pouty-lipped look that Victoria's Secret models use is indeed bordering on the pornographic, by comparison to, say, a similarly clad model in a J.C. Penney catalog, who is simply standing for the camera in her underwear).
2. If this were a nude painting at an art gallery, no one would have a problem. The nude human form has been a subject for artists for 1000's of years, and no one is saying that Michelangelo's David's private parts (including lots of hair), or most of the female nudes from the greco-roman era (sculpted without hair between their legs) were pornographic; by contrast, they're standard learning for all art history students in the western world.
3. So Ms. Sims' pose and shaved appearance need to be contextualized. Of course she's sexy...she's got twinkly eyes, a nice smile, AND a beautiful figure, and is wearing items that do what all sexy things do: hide just enough to make it enticing. And it IS not the natural way of humans to be as non-hirsute as she is. But we have been modifying our bodies for years; this seems a natural extension to it. As for the bathing suit itself, it does seem laughable that someone would have gone to the trouble to create it.

THIS MONEY IS USED FOR NUDITY IN AMERICA AND FOR DIRTY GIRLS WHO HARM THIS BEAUTIFUL WORLD

Wtf. She's just modeling a bikini. That's what she does. SHE MODELS. She does what a lot of people do...like Victoria's Secret. Those models aren't degrading themselves by wearing underwear or bikinis. They're doing they're job...they're doing what they want. Some of you people on here act like these women don't have a choice in what they do or they're too stupid to make their own decisions. Ms.Simms is very beautiful and very intelligent. If you don't like the picture, don't look at it.
Megan Feb 20th 2006 11:34AM
She looks fantastic!!!!!!!
Jenny Feb 20th 2006 11:35AM
This is so stupid, who wants to walk around in little diamonds covering their you-know-whats and how on EARTH are you supposed to swim in that thing?? That just looks cheap, it does NOT look sexy, it looks digusting. There are starving children out there, the money could be used for that instead.

This is repulsive! What message does this send out to young girls?
eskotmyr Feb 20th 2006 11:50AM
Which does more harm diamond laced porn that fosters lust and discontent in men for what they can't have, or the same diamonds smuggled out of war torn regions whose proceeds buy c4 to blow up buildings and shoulder-fired gernades launched in support of factions with nothing to offer suffering people but hate, revenge and a promise to some day repress the lusts of our age?
Until Humanity changes what it desires, there's no hope for a peaceful future. I think that's an incredibly hot photo ... perversly erotic, displaying what I value if I'm honest enough to admit it, but I just can't let myself enjoy it.
ML Feb 20th 2006 11:50AM
As a 29-year old woman who is NOT in half the shape I should be, I think it's a gorgeous picture. I find it slightly odd, but VERY sexy. Molly is a gorgeous woman and smarter than you all think. Nothing degrading about doing something you CHOSE to do. More power to her.
o. gorsic Feb 20th 2006 11:51AM
Molly Sims is just doing her job, but when you really think about a bikini costing 30 million dollars and someone posing in it, that is outrageous...it is morally wrong to think that this money wouldn't be better spent on saving people in this world...that is the disgusting thing about it...we seriously as a society need to re-think our values...

I am an attractive woman. I am fit, intelligent, and have a great love life. I attend church but also party and hang out with my friends. I am a young manager with a fortune 100 company and hold a MBA. I give this background because I am not extremely anything. I am just a young professional loving life. My thoughts are this picture is ridiculous!!! You can't wear this anywear. A waste of creative talent and money. The model should just wear nothing if this is the swimsuit. I am not judging the model. I was very dissappointed when I viewed the photo and I can wear a bikini.
toastay Feb 20th 2006 12:10PM
she is HOT!!!...thats her job to look good, and be naked...i enjoy looking
Terri Feb 20th 2006 12:15PM
I wonder what it looks like from behind?
lyni Feb 20th 2006 12:16PM
I think she looks great! The bikini is ugly and a waste of money But that has nothing to do with her, She just the model. And if you teach your daughters right from wrong and they can be what they want to you wouldn't have so many problems with her seeing a photo.
raerae Feb 20th 2006 12:17PM
I worked with Ms Simms on a film at one time and let me just say, she's anything but a whore, she's beautiful, friendly and very professional as with this print ad for the diamond bikini, yes its un-realistic that most woman can wear much less purchase this thing, but thats just how Victoria Secret rolls, they do everything big and they needed to hire some darn one to model the bikini, Ms Simms was mearly on one of many job assignments, its not that big of a deal and for the women writing in dogging her out, trust me mama, you're just jealous!!!!
Evalena Feb 20th 2006 12:24PM
This is coming from a female: she looks great! Airbrushed or not, who cares. We all know no one is perfect, and we all know she's beautiful, and we ALL love to look at beautiful women because beauty is great to look at! I appreciate looking at a beautiful person the way I enjoy spotting a breathtaking sunset or my favorite flower... or anything else that is beautiful! It is human nature to appreciate beauty when it is found; this was going on long before supermodels and air brushing! I'm not going to attempt to morally support or attack the photo: I just plain enjoyed looking at it. Enough said.
