Extraordinary Rolex Collection To Be Auctioned

For truly obsessed Rolex fans, this is big news, 300 rare vintage Rolex wristwatches will be auctioned when Antiquorum sells off “The Mondani Collection of ROLEX Wristwatches." The auction will be in two parts on April 1 and May 13, 2006 in Geneva at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel du Rhône. The comprehensive collection covers everything from the early days of Rolex to recent models. The collection is the basis for the book written by Osvaldo Patrizzi, “Collecting ROLEX Wristwatches”, edition of 2001. The catalog for the sale will link to this book and the new book “ROLEX Collecting Modern and Vintage Wristwatches” edition 2006, by Mr. Patrizzi so the collector can see his or her timepiece in the book on the subject. Guido Mondani's collection is extraordinary because it includes the best examples of Rolex watches available and represents a twenty year obsession. The watch shown here is a tonneau shaped, self-winding, waterproof, astronomic, 18K yellow gold gentleman's wristwatch with diamond black dial, triple date and moon phases. This watch is estimated to sell for $190,000 - $265,000.
