Most Expensive Champagnes
Not
including hard to find exotics, Krug, Clos du Mesnil 1995 tops the Forbes most expensive champagne list at $750 a
bottle. Only 12,624 of the bottles were produced. Coming in at second is Bollinger Blanc de Noirs Vielilles Vignes
Francaises 1997 at $400 a pop. Despite coming from the Pinot Noir grape, it is a fine golden color. Dom Pérignon
Rosé 1995 make is in the top 3 of course at $350. Aromas of strawberries and cream show Dom’s style of
delicacy and finesse.

Champagne, sparkling wines, fine wines, cognac and yes, even vinegar, are aquired taste. But of these, only the first two can give you that pop and then the spritz. Like fireworks. Pop and spritz. They symbolize celebration. None of the others can do that. I have found very few Champagnes above the $12 range that I have not enjoyed. I have had a few that are upwards of $75. Of the lesser expensive ones, sometimes extra dry is better than brut. It's not as dry as the name would imply. Most places where I live have someone on duty to answer questions about wines only. Tell them what you like, what you want to spend and try something new. I enjoyed Steve's comment's. I hope you enjoy many a bottle during a long and healthy life. On the other hand, anyone who thinks along the lines of not indulging in a $750 bottle of Champagne if they had millions of dollars, well they probably never will have that chance. Their thinking isn't high enough. I know people who pay $175 for one glass of Hennessy. It's the top shelf stuff, not something you drink in the back seat of the car with your boyfriend. It, too, is an aquired taste that was proceeded with high thinking.
