They are indeed outside of the casino building but still on casino property and still owned by the casino. Neither would be acceptable to the NBA, and with 'the great Betsky' scandal, I doubt the NHL either.

Actual proof of financing hasn't been mentioned, how many Vegas condo project have we seem with similar boasts of huge development but no action.

The Mayor is certainly very vocal about his desire for a pro-sports franchise in the city of Las Vegas (I'm sure the Sonics are using this in their negotiations for a new arena from Seattle). But the idea of building an arena in North Vegas is rediculous.

The area is not a 'tourist spot' and with the megaresorts staying away I doubt it will be for some time, certainly not in it's current state. So building an arena far away from the strip is a financially stupid move, especially with the T&M center blocks away from the strip & casinos all able to lure musicians to their smaller venues for more money.

The Las Vegas sports resort is one of many pipedreams for 'entrepreneurs' with visions of becoming Steve Wynn but lacking his financial/business and creative flair.
