Cartier Santos 100 Men's Watch
Just when I'm getting over the shock of a
$10,000 gold ring at Wal-Mart, I'm alerted to a rather
expensive watch at Costco. The Cartier Santos 100 is an 18k yellow gold men's watch featuring a brown alligator
strap, a crystal sapphire face and a silver dial. How expensive is it? $13,499.99. Remember this is Costco.
Will Wal-Mart and Costco change the way we shop for luxury items?

Actually, Costco has been purveying luxe for quite some time (many years?). Online, you'll find Breitling, Jaeger-LeCoultre and Patek Phillippe watches. Also up for purchase in many other categories are luxury items such as Chateau d'Yquem, scribbles by Picasso and handbags by Celine & Prada.
In store, I'll regularly find '98 Dom Perignon ($120), 2003 Opus One, 2002 Cheval Blanc, Omega, Breitling, Cartier, and Chopard.
In fact, I tried beluga caviar for the very first time. At the Costco in Saint Louis Park in Minnesota, beluga is sold by 2 oz. containers from Plaza de Caviar for $85 - it's from the Black Sea (just beluga, not ossetra or sevruga). Don't know how it's different from Caspian Sea sturgeon but it's still banned and still in-stock as of last night.
