Announcing Luxist's Hey Big Spender Contest
Luxist officially launched last December and to celebrate a year of the finer things in life we are offering a chance to get an extravagant boost on your holiday shopping. If you've been reading along with us this year you know we love to spend money, even if it's only in our dreams. Come spend with us and win a $250 gift certificate. We are giving you an imaginary fortune of $50 million to spend on anything we have covered this year. The most creative use of our largesse wins a $250 gift certificate to Neiman Marcus. The winner will be the one who finds the most creative way to spend the imaginary fortune so don't go spending it all in one place by buying the Duke Semans mansion. Leave your best work in the comments below and we will be happy to reward your free hand with cash.

50 million...
I would take care of expenses for some of the elderly, so they could stay in their homes insead of being sent to nursing homes and being made a ward of the state. I would give college educations to the kids who are unable to afford the means to their dreams. People who are in need of a transplant to survive would be on my list. I would give medical care to animals that their owners cannot afford and donate to the humane society. I would pay heating bills for the poor. So many things could be done with the money that would benefit so many, 50 million could make a big difference to many. I would never give my name out or let it be known I had the money. The only things I would do for myself is to buy a home in the country, put some money in the bank for security, and have Hubby retire so we could enjoy of lives together even more. Keep it simple!

I'd buy Luxist.com and divide the rest of the money up equally among all the employees. Now, how could I possibly not be your favorite to win?

50 million dollars,
Well first pay off the debt I'm in now, which isn't much, but it would be nice to not have any. Buy myself a Volvo R type. Buy my parents a beach condo with pier so my father could fish. Buy myself a nice house with lots of land so I can have stables in the back to keep horses. Give $25,000 to my best friends daughter for college. Get my best friend a house close to mine and a nice car to get around in. In my house have a awesome game room with Xbox 360, PS3, and Ninetendo Revolutions, along with some pinball machines. Buy my dogue de boredeaux well 2 of them. Finish my back with tattoos that I've been wanting to get. Spend a month or two in Australia. Buy a condo on the west coast, Florida, and NYC. Finally go to Vegas. Have my favorite band the Deftones play a show just for me and select friends for my b-day.

If I had $50 Million dollars I would first pay off all our debts. Then I would pay tithes to our church and probably have it painted, put new carpet and chairs/pews, fix a handicap walkway, and build a gameroom for the teens. The next thing I would do is put money aside to live on so my husband, the Pastor of our church, wouldn't have to work part-time to help support us. We wouldn't need another house because we live in the parsonage in back of the church but I would update the house and yard some. Then I would put some money away for college, and weddings for the 3 kids. Of course we would give $1 Million each to our parents and brothers and sisters families, which would be $9 Million. We would take a much needed familiy vacation to Walt Disney World and stay at the Grand Floridian Hotel for a week. Then we would book a cruise for our 25th Wedding Anniversary next October. I know we would go ahead and buy 5 years worth of car insurance for our son who is 20 years old because he's having to work an extra part-time job just to pay for that....(after age 25 the insurance would go down. :)thank goodness!) We would get the ballet lessons for my 7 year old that she has always wanted and the guitar lessons that my 15 year old has always wanted. We would go to a recording studio and let my husband make a CD.......he has a beautiful voice. With the rest we would invest for the future of our family and/or buy a business and let our son run it, probably a Precision Tune Auto Care because that is where he works and my husband has worked for 20 years. Probably the only down-right luxuries would be a Mecedes SUV...I can't remember the kind because I never paid attention, (why should I, I never thought we'd buy one!), the one that looks like a Chrystler Pacifica......and a Steinway piano because I play the piano. Oh! My husband plays the drums so he'd want a set of drums. One more thing is we would probably set up some kind of shelter for the homeless....and they could stay as long as they needed but they would have to contribute to the running of the place and we would have people to teach them the necessities for getting a job......for example: skills, how to do a resume', how to dress for success, etc. Anyway....I wouldn't see us throwing it away. It's a fun thought!

With my imaginary $50 million I would indulge my beautiful girlfriend:
I would whisk her away aboard my ($2.4 million) Cessna Citation Mustang to Tokyo's brand new Chanel botique where I would indulge my girlfriend in a $1 million shopping-spree and lunch. At lunch I would propose marriage, hiding the $6 million Rose of Dubai in a glass of $300 Krug Rose Champagne.
We would be married at my $25 million El Bravo estate in Palm Beach. She would wear Keiji Tagawa's $1.7 million platinum wedding dress. We would then fly (in my Cessna) to the Brand New (opening April 2006) Banyan Tree Lijiang Resort/Spa. We would stay in the $1800 per/night Presidential Suite for 30 days. Including our excessive spa treatments it would cost $399,700.
We would then return (via the Cessna jet) to fabulous San Diego, where we live (in a $2 million condo) atop the ultra-hip SD Hard Rock Condo/Hotel. Waiting for us would be our fabulous his/hers wedding gifts (watches of course!!!). His = $1.5 million Tour d'Ile; Hers = $2 million (special/rare gems) Piaget Fingerprint watch. In the garage: $3 million Ferrari FXX Super Enzo.
Completing our fabulous new life: my gorgeous $2.9 million Lady Barbaretta Yacht!!! Of course we have to have a destination to Sail Away to: my fabulous $2 million Ko Olina High-Rise Condo on the beach in Oahu, Hawaii!!!
Cheers to me!!!

I would invest $40 million into an anti-gravity research and development project in Silicon Valley. The first company who hits paydirt and comes up with the break through in anti-gravity will be even bigger than Microsoft. The remaining $10 million would be used for improving my image such as the niceties of life (cars, houses, travel, clothes, etc.) so I have the proper business look and investors would have more faith in my company.
It's a dream...
