Zodiac XL Sport Plane Introduces New Kit
Can you really get a plane for under $25,000? Yes, if you are willing to do a lot of the work yourself. Zenith Aircraft Co. has a new Quick-Build Kit for the two-seater Zodiac XL. The kit is a revamp of the standard Zodiac XL kit which was already a pretty fast assemble. According to General Aviation News, in past years Zenith has assembled and flown one of its standard airframe kits in just seven days. The new kit can be put together in 250 hours because nearly all the parts are pre-aligned and the holes are drilled. The kit can be bought for $23,975, including custom leather upholstery for the cabin and the kit is crated up in one giant box. The ultimate Christmas assembly project perhaps?

Yes, you can purchase that plane for $23,975. But as with most things in life there are some extras that you might want. An engine is one of those items. Add a recommended Jabiru 3300A engine and associated firewall-forward accessories will bring the price closer to $43,000.
