James Bond Car Up For Auction
The latest auction from
RM Auctions in January 2006 willl feature the usual
assortment of rare treasures. One of the most desired items will be the
1964 Aston Martin
DB5 driven by the character James Bond in the movies Goldfinger and Thunderball. The car is one of four created
expressly for the films and has all sorts of Bondworthy details including prop machine guns that fire from behind the
headlights and a wheel-mounted tire slasher. It has the classic Bond revolving license plate but unfortunately the
ejector seat has been replaced. How much? RM Auctions isn't assigning a value to the car which means you'll just have
to get out your wallet and keep bidding until they decide it's sold. Other items in the auction include a 1928 Cadillac
built for Al Capone (estimated to sell for $250,000 to $500,000). Continuing the gun-loving theme, Hank Williams Jr.'s
1964 Pontiac Bonneville comes bedazzled with 18 pistols, 547 silver dollars, 12 silver horseshoes and 17 sterling
silver horse heads. It is estimated to sell for $100,000 to $200,000. Other cars for sale include the unique 1941
Cadillac Thunderbolt, a 1930 Duesenberg Model J LWB Dual Cowl Phaeton ($1,000,000-$1,500,000) and a 1937 Bugatti T57C
Aravis Drophead Coupe ($1,200,000-$1,400,00).
