Tom Ford's New Mexico Plans

Sexy Tom Ford is on top of the world again. His new Amber Nude fragrance launched to wide acclaim, he's been getting plenty of breathily-appreciative press coverage and now he plans to build a hilltop adobe mansion in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  The charismatic designer grew up in Santa Fe and bought the 10-acre lot last year with his partner Richard Buckley. The plans are for a house with a 17,000 sq. foot roof area and a swimming pool. The property has a history of real estate struggle it was previously owned by  Wall Street investor Paul Tierney and his wife, Susan who wanted to put up a large house but ran afoul of the San Acacio Neighborhood Association. The Tierneys dropped their plans in 2003 and put the property up for sale for $1.7 million According to the Free New Mexican, Ford's crew has submitted an application to the Historic Design Review Board for a home with an interior courtyard covered by a pergola with open beams,  a small basement and a garage with a caretaker suite and a double-walled main adobe house. The home is designed to blend in with the local landscape and will be shielded by large trees. Ford says he needs a large house for his close family. His other properties include the home where he grew up, a ranch near Galisteo, a home in Los Angeles and a home in London. The most interesting point quote in the article comes from Ford attorney Janet McKay who said that neighbors are entitled to know what the exterior of Ford's house will look like, but "we don't want people to know where his bedroom is." Oh sure, we can see his ass in W Magazine but his bedroom, now that's private.
