Propeller Island City Lodge: Live in a work of art
is probably the most eccentric accomodations you can find in the city of Berlin. Each of Propeller Island's 30 rooms was designed by artist Lars Stroschen and is, to say the least, unique. The Flying Bed room has a slanted floor and a bed which appears to float in mid-air. The diamond-shaped Mirror Room has almost every surface covered in mirrors. The Padded Cell room (pictured) is upholstered entirely in green leather. Some of the rooms aren't quite so eccentric, though, like the serene Temple room and the fairly plain (apart from the bright hue) Orange Room. Prices start around $80 per night and go up to $115, with an extra charge of $18 or so for each lodger after the first.
