St. Regis Goes to Bora Bora
The St. Regis is going Polynesian. It has been announced that the St. Regis Resort, Bora Bora will open in April 2006. The new resort will have 101 overwater and beach villas, including the bigger-than-many-houses Royal Suite, which at more than 8,000 square feet will be the largest suite in French Polynesia. The resort sits on 44 acres of land that is protected by saltwater lagoons and there will be eight overwater villas with private Jacuzzis on expansive outdoor decks. There are also five two-bedroom overwater villas which have private swimming pools built over the lagoon. The Royal Suite is set on a secluded cove on the white sand beach and has three bedrooms, a private swimming pool, Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. There will also be an overwater fine dining restaurant that offers views of fish and manta rays swimming in the lagoon below. The resort will have both a main pool with a swim-up bar and a "romantic adult pool that offers private day-beds" (that part sounds a bit dodgy to me). The 12,000 square-foot spa is located on an island in the lagoon and will offer Tahitian and Balinese treatments.
