More Developments Planned for the Macao Area
It's getting crazy over in Macao, Las Vegas Sands Corp. owner of the
Venetian, has been selected by the Zhuhai Municipal People's Government of the PRC to proceed with master planning the
development of a destination resort on Hengqin Island in addition to the entertainment developments planned on the
Cotai Strip in Macao. The Hengqin Island resort development, located in the Guangdong Province city of Zhuhai, will
occupy more than 1,300 acres of land and be located less than one mile away from
Las Vegas Sands' Venetian Macao Hotel Resort Casino. The
Hengqin Island resort will include first-class hotels and villas, convention facilities, a marina and yacht club,
outdoor amphitheater, golf, tennis, fishing, and other leisure and recreational activities. The investment by Las Vegas
Sands Corp. will be over $1 billion. This latest announcement is just part of a huge Macao development boom that
includes the Wynn and the Four Seasons.
