Wine Storage Facility Fire
We've talked about wine
storage
facilities as a safe option for your precious collection
but what happens when the facility has a fire?
The San Francisco
Chronicle reports that Wines Central in Vallejo, California went up in a
three alarm fire on Wednesday. The storage facility was a fortress-like structure that had steel doors and a concrete
roof which made things very difficult for firefighters. Tens of millions of dollars of prized wines are believed
destroyed. The facility has been open since 2002 and stored more than 500,000 cases of rare vintages for wineries and
private collectors.
