The Orphalese
The Orphalese is a ship that will be both a residential ocean liner like Residensea and a cruise ship. The new ship has 200 private permanent residences, as well as 265 suites for cruise passengers. The Orphalese will take passengers to high-profile events like the Cannes Film Festival, the Olympics, Chinese New Year in Shanghai and the Running of the Bulls. The residences are two to four bedroom apartments from 1,000 to 4,000 sq. ft. that cost from $1.8 million to $10 million. There will also be an 80,000 sq. ft. mall deck with a spa, casino, and plenty of shops. In fact, according to this article that ran in the Wall Street Journal, they want to provide a comprehensive shopping experience. Donald Allen, chief executive of Orphalese Holdings Inc., is quoted as saying: "I want them all. I want Gucci. I want everything that you would see going down Rodeo Drive." The ship will be completed in 2008 but the residences are now on sale.
