Ask Luxist: What's The Best Concierge Service?
We recently received a request regarding a ranking of the many concierge services available. As our reader points out most premium credit card services have paired up with a concierge service and they all promise to get you show tickets and dinner reservations to the hot spots. So who really delivers the goods? New York Magazine gave the nod to Quintessentially in their best of issue but we'd like to know what you think? In specific our reader was curious about LesConcierges but we'd like to hear your raves and your rants about any services you have used.

I think that concierge services are great for people who dont have the time, nor are adventurous even when traveling in luxury. However, nobody ever talks about the limitations that you get from these kinds of services. Yes everything is fabulous. But what about those places that these companies don't have deals at or relationships with. It seems that a luxury filter is ideal for choosing places to go, see and where to eat. But when you're traveling there should be a sense of discovery about a place.

I personally use AMEX Centurion Concierge... they're wonderful. They've been fairly successful with getting hard-to-get restaurant reservations as well as some very odd requests... No complaints - however this is the ONLY service I've ever used, so I cannot compare it to anything

As I dont have your email please accept the comment. While we are on the subject of luxury. I wanted to give you this link below which is a competition for a $500 pair of Manolo’s. If we can get it out there without too much of a commercial feel it may be interesting to your readers. We are getting it into the blogoshpere before we go to an email campaign. Blog link to the details is below. Thanks Andrew

I've been tremendously happy with the services of my concierge, Quicksilver Concierge and Errand Service (http://www.quicksilverconcierge.com). I am an adventurous traveler, not someone who needs my hand held, but I like to be able to make plans at a moment's notice and don't have the free time to do it all myself. While they may not have connections or the ability to get great deals at every property, they do have good people who are on top of everything. They have never told me "no" on a request. And beyond travel, they are integral in helping me run all areas of my life--truly a "lifestyle management" service. I couldn't hack it without them!

I have been consistantly disappointed with Quintessentially. I have been trying to leave them for years. However, for those dozen phone calls one needs to make a year to make reservations while in locations where one does not have a number available, a simple call to Q sorts it out. Think of it as having a shared secretary at about $150 a month.

Does anyone know how the service provided by "Circles" compares to "LesConcierges"? Which one has further reaching connections and can secure more hard-to-get reservations?

After having attempted to use LesConcierges many times, I must say that they failed 5 out of 8 attempts in securing the reservations and/or tickets that I requested. Twice, they actually dropped the ball in mid-play and excelled only in blaming various employees in their ineptness.
I'm sorry but this service charges so very much for their *expertise* then fails to come through.
It's just another racket as far as I am concerned.
